The level looks great overall, but i think that those red lights look a bit out of place atm.I mean they seem to come out of nowhere in those screens .

Yeah I can understand that.

Anyway, to stop this going off topic.. I am soon to start work on a new multiplayer plugin that will support fast peer-to-peer games rather than what Multisync supports, which is client/server. Also it will be faster than Multisync because it will use UDP(of course I'll make it fairly reliable though). Im hoping it will be of use to this game, seeing as its an FPS, and FPSs need good fast message transfering(plus it means you don't need a very fast host because data won't be routed through the host).

My point is, I need some ideas, so go post on the thread I made for it: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=50247&b=19

I'm still of course working on Multisync

Or go directly there at : http://www.drago37.fu8.com/dbpfps/DBPFPS/index.htm

Looks good Megaton. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to impliment something like that.

DJ - Looks pretty nice, but I've also had another person offer to make the website, and I'm not sure what to do really. I'll think about it.

Oh, ok, then I guess we shall use your site . Just send me the template when you have definitly finished it. Are you planning to be website maintainer, or just website designer?

EDIT

Hang on, do you want to use the hosting that I use for the current website, or your hosting?

I can be the maintainer. The reason for that is because I am using my own server for this and would like to keep the information confidential. And I can stick with my own hosting right now.

Hey Hamish, I've gotten through the source a good bit, but school like you is, um, slowing me down... Although there are some good things in it like I said before, such as the way it is easy to place things, I'm thinking it might be best to start from "scratch" although not compleatly scratch Mostly I want to implement a new way of handeling the objects that will be somewhat similer but will provide a lot more control over specific objects.

Oh and if you want to talk about it on MSN, e-mail me and i'll give you my address for it.

Don't drop the project yet . I haven't had much time for stuff for the project lately, Easter is coming up, so after monday I should be able to do something (although I have two bits of coursework for after Easter as well). I'm going hiking over the weekend. I haven't been sick though, just kinda tired.

Really sorry for not replying to emails, I'll post replies here.

Megaton - I don't know what to suggest apart from have you got DX9.0c and latest drivers. It is an exe so I don't know why it's giving a command not recognised error. I'll try and get something with the editor sorted, even if it's only going to produce a temp level file.

Hawkeye - Nice tracks . I especially like the shadows one, it's very alternative (if that makes sense).

The times I've tried to develop the multiplayer, I've had some problems, as my other computer can't run the game at more than 5 fps, and something or other to do with the network plugin doesn't seem to function at that kind of frame rate. I may have to just plan very hard and code it mostly without intermittent testing. But my first priority is level editor.

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

Weeellll, two days later, I'm on spring break, and nobody's posted... So I guess I'll post a quick demo of a little something I've been working on for the past 1 1/2 hour. Uncompressed so you can start listening rightaway

In case you can't tell, I've been having fun with the note cut-off filter--that's what's making all the cool pad fx for the non-inatiated Have a listen and tell me what you think...

EDIT: bah don't bother with the downlaod button--at first I got that nasty "The document contains no data" message so I tried... uhm another file, it's a soldat map ([href]www.soldat.prv.pl[/href] teh best 2d shooter EVER in case you wanted to know) I thought I could edit teh message or something... nooooooooo... RICH FIX THE FRIGGIN' UPLOAD THINGEE!!!11!1!!11

in a few minutes I'll post differnt link... hang on

EDIT 2: http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1ZCLKIHZFBKBH3E5LXLGY3TVL2
It's a YouSendIt link so uhm... right It'll expire in 7 days and it's limited in the number of times you can d/l it, BUT it works. Give it a whirl and tell me what you think

...Hamish, I'm going to send it to your email so you don't have to bother with this.. you'll probalyl see it sooner to

Bah, here's the link. It isn't complete, the levels you make will probably not be compatable in the end, don't say I didn't warn you...

http://www.prodigygames.co.uk/content/downloads/LevelEditor.rar

The controls are:

LMB - Place objects
RMB - Rotate camera, or zoom camera when using shift
Scroll Wheel - Zoom Camera
s + LMB - Select object to move
delete - Delete object while moving it
Scroll wheel while moving object - Move object up and down
q+a - Move object up and down
< + > - Rotate object around y axis

I've decided to go through the source for the game and rework some of the stuff, especially how characters and weapons are handled. At the moment they are over complicated and kind of mushed all together. It should make things easier to handle in the end.

Order of recompiling the code:

1.) Get cameras, characters and player input in
2.) Get physics objects back in, with object for player. Allow disabling of physics for network play
3.) Get weapon representation back in, with big reworking (allowing for only one set of weapons, and therefore one module controlling weapons). Also working more on animations for weapons
4.) Work on player representation along with weapons and stuff
5.) Get bullets back in
6.) Get rest of stuff back in (eg. particles, tracers)
7.) Get back to work on network stuff, probably rethinking network player objects, and trying to integrate physics

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

You trying to load a level at the time? The levels included probably won't work, so either don't use them, or try and remove all the absolute paths by searching and replacing.
