Is this still happening? This is probably the coolest thing in a community I've ever seen! I wish the FPSC community would do something like this. If a small team had the vision and could depend on the community to script model and texture for them, some really sweet games could be made really quickly!(relatively!)

What's the best thing you can say in this space?

Very nice both Mitchell and Megaton . I especially like the texturing on Megatons model . Would probably look in place in a gangster type level (an idea I've been thinking about, early 90s gangland in some US city at night, though I wouldn't do the idea any justice with my modelling). Mitchell, I'm not so sure about the shape of the park lamp, it looks a bit weird, although that may be the style you were going for .

Think digital, looks good . Upload it, or texture it first if you want.

Evil stick - Are those concepts, or models? They are very impressive, and we could certainly use some of them. If they are someone elses models, make sure we have permission.

This is my last post, probably for 2 weeks, so cya all later, and good luck with the project while I'm gone. Be really good to come back and find lots of cool stuff .

Megaton, sorry I didn't get round to uploading the demo, I only just got it fixed and didn't have time. You'll just have to wait .

Laters.

They're models, and I'll post them after I get the answer on permission. (so you can tell I didn't make them, but I am working on something else)

if you open the model in notepad then search for the texture filenames you can change it to .jpg or .png etc then convert the media to that format (with the new extension).

Will do.

EDIT: Or not. It won't work with anything but BMP for some reason, so if Hamish wants it, he'll have to settle for BMP right now. I'll try and prevent this next time.

Ok, I've got a little test here. I can't check myself because I don't have DBP, so, does the model of a TV that I attached appear with textures when it's loaded into DBP? Because it shows up textured in Wings, but untextured in DBC now that I've used a JPG texture.

hi,
i am a ok coder(not sure how i'd match to you guys). I was wondering if you's show the souce code or just little bits, as i am interested in seeing how good coders do an FPS game and would like to studdy it, and if i beleive i can contribute i would be more than happy to. I am also a ok modeler i use 3d canvas, i do beleive that im pritty good at animating objects with bones, i also like making little short animated clips if i have the write models ect.

my ps specs are: 3.2ghz 1.5gb of ram and a radion 9200 graphics card(i plan to get a new card).

P.S i do not wish to feave anyones hard work, but i am really interested in this topic. I have Dark Basic Pro fully upgraded, i also have geoscape and cartoshop, so if you require a map to be made i should be able to help.

any questions please feel free to ask.
My email is: dark_angel_1246@hotmail.com : if its needed

@dark angel1246,

Someone may already of emailed you but as far as i know, You can look at the sourcecode all you want, i cant supply it ATM. Maybe when hamish gets back (in 1+1/2 -to- 2 Weeks) he can give you it. Sorry if this puts you out or anything... Then again maybe someone else can give it to you?

@Mitchell:
I've just seen your post from 2 weeks ago about my level (i'm back from a 2 week vacation, that's why ).
Thanks for the palm tree model, it's much better than my rushed one.
If you have any other suggetions on how to improve it, i'd be glad to hear them.
I see you're making a new level, good luck with that!

@mm0zct : could you send me the website password?

ah, you're back! Well, I dunno how to improve your level. I really like it. I just thought the palmtree wasn't as good as the rest. I didn't know it was a temp or something. Well, I hope you can use the tree.

And yeh, I'm working on a level. It's going ok, almost done modeling it, starting texturing soon..

Aplogies for my lack of activity... I've recently had quite a bit going on, and haven't really had time or enegry or even *gasp* really cared about this project. Sorry about that.

Now then, a nasty bug in a prebeta of MPT ended up fouling up a good portion of the songs I wrote for this project that were actually decent. The other ones, the uncorrupted ones, aren't that good. Sooooo, I'm going to reverse enginer the good stuff in Reason3.0, since I have enough confidense in my abalities now that I think it'll actually be decent. I probally shouldn't tell you this... hmmm.... well fine, this project was the first thing I ever wrote ANY music for. As in first. Song, I mean. Gah it hurts But, (of course there's always a but), without this I wouldn't have gotten off the ground.

So, therefore, forget what I've been writing and concentrait on my new stuff, the stuff that's coming

Hellodally.

I've been away for the last two weeks like Hamish but now I'm back so we should be able to make some progress code side.

Today I made a cloth physics system that integrates with Newton. It's mainly for the CTF flags but could also be for random nets, banners, tablecloths and curtains around the levels.

Here's a little demo (no media):

Move the blanket with the arrow keys, press space to make an egg to catch in the blanket, and press control to drop the blanket.

Try catching some eggs, then rolling them out of the blanket, then dropping it and trying to droop it over the box.

It's pretty fast, runs at about 80 FPS on my craptacular computer. Sorry if it's too fast for you, just add a "sync rate 70" or whatever.

No GFX on the material yet, just dots.

edit to test sig

Thanks. I don't think I've seen a FPS with proper material physics so notch it up as a world-first for Blackout.

Let's get as many as possible...

BTW, where do I get one of those funky signatures?
