PLEASE DOWNLOAD THIS FAST OR IT WILL BE DELETED BY THE WEBSITE
http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.php?f=001116e35b89ec293b44c58e

here is the final grenade launcher model , as hamish and prof suggested , i reworked the textures a little bit , and it looks less like a toy now

i admit that the first time i read the comments , i understood it like everybody told me to throw it away! ( my bad english , again ) but i re-readed posts after that and i understood ( ok , hamish post helped a bit )
lets say when i work several nights on a stuff , i'm a bit too proud
of it , i shouldn't of course , but i progress on that
i'll be more cool now , so all kind of comments are welcome!

its all i can do with this texture , i can't make it much different now , because. giving it a "chrome" feeling is pretty much a matter of shader , as everybody knows , chrome and shiny metals textures depend pretty much of what there is around the model. it should be cool with a chrome shader , + the texture , if its REALLY bad , i can rework deeply the texture , but i doubt its more important than good riggings and animations
next time , i'll post sketches before painting something

@professor
sorry for the models i should have gived you , but i CAN'T find ANY
good file hosting site , i currently use some " instant " file hoster
http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.php?f=001116e35b89ec293b44c58e

IF YOU HAVE A GOOD DOWNLOAD SITE EXEPT FILESAVE PLEASE LET ME KNOW

currently working on your swat model , it got really cool shapes expept some little details , do you give me permission to modify hands and add props ?

i know connections problems it's pure pain , good luck , stay tunned

@hamish
the wiki DOES NOT WORK FOR ME , the adress is blocked and i can't confirm my account , what should i do ?

@Glog, upload the file to our main site .

http://www.gamersol.co.uk/BlackOut/Website/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Just register and upload it at the file manager. You can always edit the upload if you need to update the texture.

Oh and you can tweak it all you want, just dont change any of the Major details, like remodel his head lol .

The new site will let you upload all files up to 5mb, which is plenty for models and music tracks.

can i add things on it ?
do you want me to give you just the rigged version in blender ? tell me

just wanted to stop by and say that i finally took a look at this game, just kind of ignoring it in the past, and was surprised at how good it looks. I downloaded the thing with Casbah where you can fly around it, very smooth, very nice job. Good luck with it.

You can play in a first person view, not just the fly-around view. Simply open the console with ` and type "joingame".

A description of how the AI will work is probably better first, then other people can discuss, improve and add to the plan, then coding can start.

Quote: "we are 10 february and the fist playable demo is for the 31 right ?"
I'm not sure, it depends what everyone else thinks. I will stick a page on the wiki of targets to meet for the demo. I will also add 31st as the deadline, but if people think they aren't going to make it we can push it back (I know that shouldn't be encouraged with deadline, but in a community project deadlines are only targets, not points at which you start having to work for free or whatever ).

Quote: "ok , i uploaded the grenade launcher on the wiki"

Really? I can't find it. The grenade launcher still seems to be the old version

anykind of contructive commments super welcome

Good News
The BlackoutBiped skeleton is now entirely built and fonctional , rigging is well on the way , the model and the animations should be ready for the next monday ( not this one , the next one )

@prof
Quote: "Oh and you can tweak it all you want, just dont change any of the Major details, like remodel his head lol .
"

its allright , i did'nt intended to , the swat actually got great shapes , but , you know , if someday , somehow , i got some time to ... some normal maps would be quite cool right ?

@hamish
i re-emailed the file to the wiki site , it should come , tell me if you got the file
you're right about the AIpage , i think so too now .
the deadline you fixed will motivate everybody i think , just like alienware compos !

@BlackoutStaff
btw , i played the demo last night , and i'm proud to collaborate to such a project , this is absolutely G.R.E.AT , lets give our best to this project , i hope the game will not be just "Another" Quake like
and each time i can , i work in that purpose .

Some concept design now ( i picked it from some homework research)

could this be a blackout level ? i bet so , do you ? let's go!

Late Edit

@Glog, Sure if you want to texture the swat if you like. You should
probably upload it to the blackout site though, Not sure why it doesnt work now.. Are you sure your going under Media Manager and at the bottom of the page click on Submit a file.

@Gil,

When you start the game, press spacebar, then type "joingame" not joinserver, If it still doesnt work im not sure whats wrong...

@ Gil Galvanti
Sorry, the demo you have requires you to host or join a server before joining the game. I have changed that since, download the latest version on the front page, that should work (it did for me).

@ Snipa Masta
The great thing about the new website is all the files can be uploaded there . Find the mac10 (under 'Uzi') in the remository. When you have finished unwrapping, upload it to the remository again (you will need to register).

http://www.gamersol.co.uk/BlackOut/Website/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=29&func=fileinfo&id=41

@ Glog

I still can't find the grenade launcher. What do you mean emailed? You are trying to upload it to the file manager aren't you? You should re-upload the file to the grenade launcher entry that professor uploaded.

http://www.gamersol.co.uk/BlackOut/Website/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=29&func=fileinfo&id=19

By the way, once you have updated a model, edit the entry for it on the wiki (you should be able to easily find it via the contents menu ).

Also, you can create a level concepts page and upload that concept with any further details.

It shouldn't say that. The command is hardcoded in, so you must be entering it in wrong. You are typing it without the speech marks? 'hostgame' won't work, but 'joingame' will. 'joinserver' and 'hostserver' are also commands, but they are used to set up network games. Failing all, can you post a screenshot of the console in-game?

Gil: Download the latest exe rar file and extract the exe and any folders included into the folder, making sure to say yes when it asks you to replace any files. It looks like you have an older version.

Snipa - That is cool . A very clean texture, I don't want you to add bits for the sake of it, but make sure the large flat areas don't look too empty, put some subtle intents on the side. We could even try and make a normal map for this gun?

Gil - That is the file. I know it probably seems a bit obvious, but make sure you are extracting the contents into the folder with the exe in, and make sure it is overwriting the contents (if no "do you want to overwrite" message comes up, the you have extracted it wrongly). The exe you are running should be 10,897,126 bytes.

Dodic - think about the laws of physics before you make models - the thin supports would snap in a matter of seconds.

Gil - Good good. Any comments you have on the game as it stands are welcome.

Dodic - Thank you. Indeed there is already a camera model, but more than one is fine (although obviously other models are preferred). I agree with Snipa Masta though, the support does look like it would snap at any second. Make it thicker, and add a more proper looking joint rather than a ball. When you have the finished model, please take a look at the "Submitting Media" guidelines on the Wiki, and upload it to the file manager on our new site (click on the link on the front page). The action loop seems good, although a little low quality. Maybe you could export it with a higher bit rate? Although I'm not sure where we'd use it as it isn't really a full song, but we'll try (so long as you upload it to the perminant store ).

Here is a maximum quality wav file loop , witch you can convert to the bitrate you like , or keep it like that.

You could use it , like when the action starts , the loop starts , like after an intro in the game or something , you know...

i mean in an fps there is allways a place for an action loop (at least thats my appinion..)

Quote: ""Submitting Media" guidelines on the Wiki"

Sorry , but i havent been on this thread ... and i dont know what/where wiki is.

And , about that seccam , i`ll make something smarter , and look more carefull for the details , some static object i`ll make.

p.s. i like the game , and the pics are really great , professional stile looking.

That is awesome snipamaster. The texture really does the model justice. I'm working on a low contrast monitor too atm (sister is on the good pc), so all I can see in the attached picture is solid blackness. Here is a super-high contrast image for those with crappy monitors (some detail is lost unfortunately). If you feel like texturing any more models, especially weapons, then please be my guest! Also, have you re-uploaded your model to the file uploader?

Dodic - Look on the front page of this thread. The link is there.

Glog - It does look a bit high poly, but good job on the rig. Player models should probably be around 1.5k max, seeing as there could be around 8 on screen at once.

great texture

its ok for the model , its just an option in blender to smooth the mesh a little bit.

A program is sensed to be a conventional mean to give orders to a computer and not being obscure,weird,and full of traps ,that is closer to magic stuff (Dave Small).
