If the FPSC gets its physics engine deal (or something like that) would you be able to put in ragdolls?

that was an animation though..

apperantly they will release a physics expansion next year sometime...which would include ragdolls

It might be because it's a first person shooter, and first person shooters can not allow people to kill enemy players at medium range with just one or two shots . Game balance!

I would hope they had ragdolls in, but another concern of mine is physics. They say they're making a major deal, and having Havoc physics in it would be amazing, but my concern is how easy would it be to assign physics to something? Would you simply have to set its weight and density or would you have to get your coding hat on to get a decent result?

Its still gonna rock my world redguardless though.

Don't get it then. That should be a no brainer. Just wait for a later release. Personally, I think Havoc is over priced given what I have seen with the Newton physics library.

PS. But, I can see licensing it because of its name value. I guess that would make it more a business decision than an actual coding necessity.

The thing about Havok is its speed and its durability. Newton is great as long as it lasts... but try running a Newton stress test with 1000 crates versus a professional engine. It just doesn't hold up. It's fantastic for what it is, but not quite good enough for products like Half-Life 2 .

FPSC does not have ragdoll physics at the moment. What you saw in the video was just one of the death animations. It does have some limited physics, in the sense that enemies fall over in different directions depending on where you shoot them, and rocket explosions will move objects around. As for what will happen in the future, I am not sure.

No ragdolls in the first release and no Havok ever - do you guys have a clue how much that costs to license?

I'm guessing over $100,000 US.
