Which OS do you guys use? I don't get this on Win2k but I heard from someone on 98SE who does.

(Strange!)

I use Win XP Pro as well, and the fix does not work for me, either... I still get asked for the CD when I try to compile.

This is either funny or a coincidence. I am using W98-SE in 2 computers, WXP in one computer and a laptop, and WXP pro in another computer. The only one in which DBPro still asks me for the CD after switching to the editor is the Windows XP Pro. I bet the problem must relate to some thing in XP pro that is different from regular XP.

Interesting - like I said Win2k has never bugged me once for the CD (when using the editor launch method). Can anyone else report back their findings?

Cheers,

Rich

I'm using WinXP...and the temporary fix doesn't change anything for me. In fact I was able to compile a couple of times before getting the error message.

So, is common to our problem?
I have an AMD 80X86 compatible MMX 3DNow Athlon 1.1 Ghz processor, an Nvidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64 video card, and updated drivers. There is plenty RAM (383M) My display is set at 32, but I have tested it at 24 with no changes.

I have Windows XP Professional Edition and the fix does work properly...
It's good they intend to permanently fix this on the second DBPro patch but will they remove the CD-check per 100 compiles thing?
It's really pissing me off...

Well, it seems that the problem is not the type of Windows. How about every body that has the problem report their video card, processor, ram, etc. This way, Rich will be able to figure out the problem.

I'm just wondering...It might be that fix don't work
when we open DBP doubleclicking one project from project folder. I mean that file association is linked to launch.exe.
I test that.

Then, why does it work in three of my computers and in my laptop, but not in the fourth computer? The fix does not work at all in the computer I am talking about. But it worked great in the others!

I basically open up my ".dbpro" projects and ".dba" source files by double clicking them and when Dark BASIC Professional runs, it does not ask me for the CD...
The tip for changing the shortcut target worked perfectly for me, but yes, it still asks me for the CD every 100-compiles which pisses me off, lets see if DBS remove this!

Anyways, if when you open up projects and source files by double clicking them, Dark BASIC Professional comes up asking for the CD, you can try changing the Windows File Type assosiation for the "open" command to target the "editor.exe" and not the "launch.exe", pretty simple fix...

Anyhow, here are my system specs:

AMD Athlon 1200MHz (266MHz FSB)
Epox EP-8KTA3+
512MB 133MHz SDRAM
Leadtek WinFast GeForce III Ti500 64MB DDR AGP (nVidia Detonator XP 30.82 Drivers)
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 1024 PCI
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition

One fix which I am using is to get a CD copying utility like Blindwrite and make an image of the CD on your hard drive, then use Daemon tools to mount that image as a virtual CD-ROM so that when DBPro checks, it actually finds the CD. Of course, you need enough hard drive space to do this, but it works.

Tools for this:
http://www.blindwrite.com
