Have you unzipped the file somewhere, and then run setup.exe ? If so, then the download is corrupted, you've got a virus, got the wrong operating system (I have noticed that the web site doesn't list the minimum specs.), or a corrupt/missing MSI system (if that's what it uses).

Try downloading from somewhere else (there are a few other places).

Yes - no problem. Have you got a screenshot that you could, perhaps, send to Lee or someone ?

Sorry Dark Basic Pro doesn't appear to work under XPPro, only XP home. I have successfully run DBP under Win 98SE, ME, and XPHome but can't get it to work in XPPro. Depending on how I run it it brings up randome error messages. Sometimes it'll enter the editor but not run your program, sometimes not even that. I got seemingly unrelated random error messages. This isn't a driver or DX problem.

I run Darkbasic Pro with Windows XP Profession without a problem. Make sure you are in Administrator mode, or RunAs administrator when you install Darkbasic Pro. Also you may need to get SP1 since I have not tried it without SP1 already installed.

Ah, I think he means that whoever packed that file with the winzip intaller didn't actually buy the liscence to winzip so it says its not a registered version of winzip installer.

I also run dbpro under xp pro without a problem, and I have ran dbpro demo without a problem. Its your your OS.

I'm not sure where you downloaded that file from but I suggest getting it from (this is the dbpro 30-day demo by the way).

http://www.getafile.com/cgi-bin/merlot/get/DARKBASIC/darkbasicpro/dbpro_demo_lite_v3.zip

And...

If you are looking from DarkBASIC 1, you can get the good 20 mb demo at ftp://darkbasic.co.uk.

Hope this solves your quandry...

I tried compatibility modes to no avail, however I don't have any service packs installed because its a hacked version just for testing compatibility modes. My official operating systems that I paid for are XP Home (works really well and stable) and 98SE (pretty good)

It has been my Exp that when using hacked or pirated software, expect gliches. Anywho Windows, hell Microsoft itself, is a big pain in the ass. I've posted elsewhere on these forums that a XP update messed up my com. I had to re-install XP and everything thar was password protected was sealed away. Half my hard-drive gone. If only more programs were Linex compatable, including DB. Forgive my rant, sorry.

This is Truth!
This is my Belief!
...at least for now.
