Doom3 is awesome, for about a week - then it's the same over, and over, and over - I know Halo suffered from that, but that was more due to them trying to make the game massive than lack of ideas or media. Halo is one of those games where you complete a level, then can't put it down till you see what happens next, the kind of game people look forward to playing after school/work. Personally I haven't felt like that about a game since Halo1. Even deathmatch on Doom3 sucks, how is that even possible? - how can they take the daddy of multiplayer and strip it of all that was fun?.

Even BF:Vietnam gave Doom3 a run for it's money, I still play that. HL2 will kick Doom3 into touch in an instant - and the XBox version of Doom3 will no doubt lack in everything good about the PC version.

yeah i know, i've played Doom3 online like 3x i think... it just doesn't do it for me. too slow really.

Splash Damage are the guys behind the MP Levels too, which surprised me because RTCW and RTCW:ET have some awesome MP maps.
Halo2 might be fun online, but it feels like same-old same-old to me.

Handful of new things, the story line seems to have been lifted right out of frickin' doom; except with the Covenent rather than Hellspawn. I dunno... it's just Halo really with some fancy graphics.

This is game no.2 in 2 days i've not exactly been impressed with as a sequal; ho hum. Atleast Resident Evil 4 will be here soon

I'm a patient person (in this case) so I can wait till my Limited Edition Copy comes in the post tomorrow (or Saturday) ...But also it cost me £30 (inc. tax and postage) instead of the £48 (and collecting it) reserving it from Game (EB). Also I found out today that it supports Guests on Live, which means me, my gf and my brother against the world instead of me against them (no competition ). Finally I don't have school over the next week (work experience) so I'll be playing all the time.

I went to a halo 2 tournament on november 8th at bestbuy(an electronics store).. I came in 6th place out of 120 people, so not bad.. i got ripped off and should've won 2nd or 3rd place but on my last game, i got called last and got stuck with the only old xbox controller... the Shaq controller. In any case i think i did pretty well.

The tournament started at 7pm and ended at 11:45, 15 minutes before i could go and get my own copy of halo 2 across the street. So after the tournament that's where i went, only to find that i was last in a 500 person lineup waiting for the game. It seems none of those people cared much for the tournament and decided to get in line before everyone else..

From the tournament me and my friend came to the line carrying a halo 2 tshirt, button, 4 of those very nice looking metallic shining halo 2 posters, 6 lanyards(mesh necklaces that hold your keys and such) and 2 halo 2 demo boxes. Everyone was staring at us watching in a very jealous way, they also noticed that my friend was walking down the line struggling to hold everything together.

My friend had a couple people come up to him asking to purchase the posters, or the demo box and he declined their generous offers.

After a 4 hour wait, and getting home in the morning i took out and unwrapped my halo 2 limited editon wrapping, and took out the instruction manual aswell as the letter booklet(letters from some characters within the game and pre-event stories) and skimmed them.

I was too tired to start playing so i left it for the day after(the 9th). I woke up early in the morning, obviously unable to sleep as i wanted to play this game very badly. I took out the cd and placed it in my xbox drive. Created my profile and my characters looks and jumped into the game immediately.

Safe to say that halo 2 single player is extremly impressive, and nothing like the first game. There is no point in the game that feels similar or like you've been there before, no repetiveness. The dual weapons and sword add a lot to the fun factor.

I didnt have much time to play it because a couple of friends came over and wanted to play multiplayer, so i let it rest for one more day.

On november 10th i went all out on the game, many little surprises and amazing cinematic cut scenes were included. The new enemy characters were very fun, and in one case(facing the prophet) took me forever to figure out how to beat him.. I wont say so i dont ruin the gameplay.

On november 11th(today) in the morning i finished the game. I must say i wasnt SUPER impressed with the ending as much as i was some of the other cinematics, however i was very pleased to know that...

*spoiler alert*... Do not look down if you dont want a small part ruinned(though it's not too big, so you probably wouldnt mind me telling you)..

That halo 2 left it open for a sequel. I imagine halo 3 will come out for xbox 2 in a couple or a few years.

Cheers to the game and the excellent worksmanship displayed by Bungie Studios.

If anyone feels like it, i have xbox live and they're welcome to add me to their friends list. My gamer tag is Master Merix.

Doom3 better than Halo2? What are you guy smoking? Halo2 single and multi are 10x that of Doom3. Of course it's going to be more of the same with some cool features, if they completely reworked the game and changed everything around people would buy it, play it, and decided they liked Halo 1 better. Bungie would be really dumb to do a complete redesign of gameplay.

Just finished the big Halo2 lan. We played about 6 hours of system link on Zanzibar single bomb assault, team deathmatch on Coagulation and headlong, I was utterly annihalated by my friends, but it was still a good time. Then we spent about five hours on campaign. Two friends went on one Xbox since they were further than my little bro & I, they beat it, and then I got to the 'L' level.

They did a very nice job on communicating the story. It has depth, but you don't have to sit through 9 hours of cutscenes between levels.

I'll probably be setting up Live soon. Just need fifty bucks and a way to get a cable from my router to my xbox(all the way on the other side of the house ).

I'm glad you weren't serious. If anyone has played Source, I think you can agree the Halflife 2 engine goes far beyond Halo 2 and Doom 3 combined.

Can't wait til Halo 2 comes out for PC. Hopefully it won't take so long this time. But I'm personally a bit dissapointed to hear that the pistol is now unscoped. 'Tis a shame. Now there is no more weapon to police the banshee noobs with. And whats with the rocket launcher being homing? At least it took some skill before...

Konrad- Definately was not serious there. I'm already groping together another $50 for the 16th. They unscoped the pistol, but now MC always has binoculars you can look through if you're carrying an unscoped gun.

Do I need to make sure my router's compatible for that?

We've got it set up so the modem's installed somewhere (I forgot where), that runs to the router which is hooked up to all four of our computer (my Dad's being the "main" computer). There's plenty of slots available though.

Well in my time of no internet (which is still kinda true (i found a close wireless router, that was very open, but i dun like syphoning off peoples internet so i shall log off in a few) I happened to beat the game. I really had nothing better to do.

The story seems a little more clear when in english, but it is still kinda wary. But the big problem is the ending. I hated it like i hate crappy cheese.

Ending Spoiler (sort of):

But yeah, i've already started my "Internet less, how many FPS's have i beaten since list"

Doom 3 (on nightmare, actually felt like the Doom of old in Site 3 etc..)
Halo 2
Opposing Force (on hard this time through; well i actually started that while i still had internet)

Gonna get Half-Life 2 as soon as its out, and probably work on Unreal2 tonight.

Well now I outta get going, people notice me connected it'll be my ass. (gotta love wireless technology and close (litteraly) neighbors).

Ahhh just finished a two hour session of Live Halo 2 and I must say it is an extremely fun, well rounded game. Swordball is amazingly fun (I got about 6 kills in a row before being cut down by the ninth and the two games before that (not of Swordball) I came first by quite a way ). Now to play some Apollo people.

Rocketball is insane when you've got a ton of people. And team slayer with 2 of your friends playing side by side, with 16 people total is pretty fun. Especially when one friend is horrible and ended up with -2.......

It ended up being us 3 verses the other 2 teams when people started quiting...

Been playing 4 player Lan all weekend - damn quality game if you can get a team mate who co-operates.

I'm a little disapointed with the Banshee's though, they don't go very high, but taking over the vehicles makes up for all that - especially when they don't see you comming.

I just dont get it. why is everybody so bessest of halo?! everybody I know talks about it and nothing else: have you tried halo 2? you must buy xbox so you can get halo! halo rules! do you remember when we did that in halo? Want to link with me and my pals, we are going to play halo!

dude, Ive never liked halo. I dont know why, but everytime I see halo I scream inside me! why is it that so many people like it? have they not heard of rpg's? oh, and splintercell also suck!

Because if you have an XBox, it's the best FPS for that. RPG's are fine, I enjoyed Fable while it lasted, but that's just the thing - Halo2 will be completed over and over, you play it one player, split screen co-op, and when your sick of that you still have multiplayer to keep you occupied.

No RPG I've ever played was worth completing twice, and very few of them offer multiplayer modes - not on XBox at least. I do fancy getting Baldurs Gate though, co-op RPG on XBox, I quite liked the PC verison of Baldurs Gate, and having it not spread over umpteenty discs will make it far less irritating.

It seems strange though, that someone without an XBox would express they're disgust for a game that they don't own, won't buy, and can't play - surely you should give it a fair chance?

I tried the demo of halo 2. it was nothing I will try once more. I got bored after two minutes. what is the point of shooting at some sort of alien creature, while everybody on my team just run away from me and minding their own business. it was a boring game.

I have also played 4player split screen on xbox (it was the first time I tried it) those I played with had already completed the game and they was way much more experienced than me. they killed me all the time. I had no chance. pluss I hate the xbox controller. it feels good and it fits my hands very well. it is lovely. but what is the point with having the buttons on those rare places? how can one play like that?! no im a ps2 guy I guess. nothing beats the playstation controller.

then i suggest you DO NOT get baldurs gate dark alliance, bg on the pc = tops, it does not = xbox dark alliance. it's a completely different style of game, dark alliance is a hack n slash style game and it can really suck multiplayer with sharing the same screen, cause it only follows player 1. honestly for xbox rpg go laugh at a tree or some other abstract art, cause theren't isn't that many "GREAT" rpg's on there, fable was supposed to remedy that but it flopped imo. Morrowind is good but it gets tiresome. all there really is is action/sports/shootemups.

But for PC, it probably ranks in the ten thousands.
...and the fact that it's for Xbox doesn't make it any better.

My favorite RPG remains MM7.

You have to think beyond the simple "I am attacking and doing damage to an enemy" idea that goes along with RPGs. Playing an FPS involves you coming across a situation, a combat encounter, a realtime puzzle for you to solve. You must find a good spot from which to shoot enemies. This spot should not give you immediately away, and you should be able to get out of it quickly. You also need an appropriate weapon for the spot you picked and the types of enemies you are facing. Some weapons are more effective against some enemies than others, and that also varies in itself depending on how close to your opponent you are. Coop is even cooler because you have a human to coordinate with. Halo also has a better storyline than many RPGs. Simply because the RPGs are all the old recycled trash. Halo has some recycled plots, but it's not so heavily battered into your brain as typical RPG cliches are.

Halo 2's plot, if you would call it recyceled would just be a recyceled Halo 1. Sure Halo 2 is great but although quite obvious they would, did there have to be (Spoiler

It would make sense. Halo 2 may be loads of crack but it is a fun load of crack. Though it may have flaws and cheating developers they did a good job of hiding it.

Try using the PS2 controller for 13 hours a day, 7 days a week (like me). Then you'll learn to appreciate the Xbox controller
