Woo, thanks Van that's fantastic (didn't see you before).

Alex - you get public exams then? I had exams at the end of 4th year (nc 10) but they were no problem at all - piece of piss

Just for the ones before gcse? Yeah but I only started a couple of weeks before. In most cases they'll be past papers, which are easy if you get into the mind of the examiner.

No worries David.

DBA, it's no problem for me to knock up another one like it, in fact I'll make some different ones up and upload them tommorow (on the 2D forum where nobody will ever find them).

Sorry, it's almost 40MB IIRC - too big for email. I took it down to make room for bandwidth I'd need for something else.

I may ask Rich if TGC can host it - but I think it's unlikely.

David, I'd be willing to host it on my website, wouldn't be able to give you direct ftp access (against the aup) but if you want I could be able to make a little upload script and put it on there for you.

Sure it could handle 40mb? I've had other offers and none have worked

I might add you to my MSN and I can give you a private link for it.

I'm sure my webhost will be able to handle 40megs, if you're talking about the upload script, I don't know tbh.

my webhost gave me a .htaccess script at some point explaining how to overcome the 15MB time-out problem.. most hosts seems to have it, but not sure why.

pitty i lost that email and the one i have in my inbox is from the other techhy who told me there's nowt wrong with thier servers.. it's 100% my ISPs fault.

so there might be some issues with an upload script. just a warning

If it's that much problem not having FTP, I'll give you some space on my server with FTP access - you can upload it there. I have 3gb's of space and 25gb of bandwidth - so no problems there.

And I think that 2 megs is hard-coded into PHP for uploading, but I'm a PHP programmer, so I don't know about CGI and the rest.

It used to display scores but I have an inkling I forgot to turn off some sprite somewhere, hence a bit of 3d renders destroying the carefully rendered 2d scores

Awesome game, some of the best DBPro visuals around. One thing I noticed that I don't think has been commented on is the way the walking is done. You can run significantly faster I noticed, by running diagonally. Are you just moving forwards if up is pressed and sideways if right is pressed, if you are then you may want to make it so the speeds are reduced if you move on both directions (forwards and sideways) simulataneously. You may already be doing this, and it was just an optical illusion caused by the terrain. Other than that, great game.

Simple... yet fun!

Thanks It's atually quite an old demo, alot has improved. Particles are so much nicer now. And the music is great.

Interesting observation. Well, forward/backwards in handled by one routine, and the strafing alters the camera position instantly so there's no real overlap. Will have a look back through the code though.

(Oh - thanks for the visuals comment. I seem to have a talent for nice visuals )

The interference is meant to be annoying, you're about to die!

As for selling, it never occurred to me. This hasn't got any story etc, just a fragging match. Wouldn't be worth much.

Quake 3 had a story ?!
Nah dont sell it, im too poor/cheap !
downloading now...revision can wait for a few minutes.

[EDIT]
Very cool man, good work.
All the visuals are very nice ...except your dust and bloor particles...they deriously need updating as they look out of place next to the lovly graphics everywhere else.
On a brighter note I loved shooting the enemies with weapons that knocked them about...that was great ! I fragged so many like that.
That was cool, keep it up man...looking forward to the next installment.

This is really strange. Two people have had that problem, that's all. The rest can load it fine so its not a problem with files not existing - got all the mp3 codecs and windows media player installed?

Oi

Running into the same problems as last time (the NPC's being stuck). Took a video as usual to show ya (Though its quite choppy as it seems fraps wants to screw with me this morning).

http://liquidzsnake.dbspot.com/merc2/merc2.wmv

(and yes I did change the in game music to something thats more "deathmatchy" for me )

Specs:

-Amd64 3200+
-Radeon 9600xt 128meg
-1024mb RAM (forgot the speed)

The only suggestion I can think off the top of my hand right now is:

- Scroll on mouse for weapons switch

Thats about it.

Don't know if I've got the lattest codec but I have tested somthing : replace all your musics by others musics who works perfectly on my games and still crash line 739 . That's really strange

@everyone - thankjs for comments.

@eric t - the first part of your video shows two npc's fighting each other. After that you see nt ojust look at one that might be shooting at somebody else, don't know really. The AI's dodgy (and this may be the same demo as you played before)

@math 89 - iirc the one that can't load is a wma. Must be your system.

@thinkdigital - its not on my server anymore - can't help there, sorry
