I hope you will download and trye out the next demo when its finished yust to show a bit of how it looks now thanks to dopies great collision.(se attached image.)

Well, pretty good and fun game !! I loved it...

Just a few details : are the shots supposed to go throught the glass (the walls) ? if not, then it's a bug, because some ennemies could shot me throught it and I could do the same...

Another Bug, not a real bug, just a map problem : I could go up the walls, and then walk and fall in the dark....

I know about the bullet problem iam trying to work it out but with the current collison i have for them so do they go thru thin walls and as my map editor builds all maps with plains so do you see my problem.
2:
on all walls or only near doors or stuff like that?

Ok an tiny update the current fixes and updates for next beta that have bin done.
jump sound when you jump.
also another sound when you land and character animation.
you no longer can shoot thru walls and doors.(rewrote the bullet code.)
fixed the map bugg.
also the enemy bugg where the enemys started to float when the player got to close and knocked him thru the floor.
i wonder is there only andrew and pyre that downloaded the latest beta?
And sorry for the slowness in development but iam often very tired after work at the pallet factory.
and i yust have to say all my complaints before about dbp have sadly bin proven to me to be my own coding weaknes.
as it showed that i yust had alot left to learn to get them right.
I LOVE DBP ITS AWESOME WITH ALL THIS FREEDOM IN DEVELOPMENT!

Yes as soon as i have made enough improvemments and added stuff so that there is an reason for people to download an new beta.
if i flood it and release an new beta every week so will people get bored and stop downloading and give me feedback.
but if you want so can i trye to upload an bigger and better beta demo next weekend?

i will upload an new beta this weekend some of the improvements.
the game engine now scans then map file for neaded textures and only loads neaded textures saves alot of memory during gameplay.
better collision you cant now walk thru walls when colliding with the electricity for example.
there is now secret rooms yust like wolfenstein with tresures and some will you nead to find to get further that contain keys.
and alot of new textures.
the enemys are not always straight on to the player walking and shooting for easier gameplay.
this is yust an tiny fraction of the improvements so be patient for the next update this weekend.
and teaser screenie is included here.

Just been playing it, its a great game, i love how the glass looks, my only niggle is the camera angle is too steep and i cant lower it enough. other that that was great...oh the secret door was very cool, too me back to duke nukem days !

Thanks to you all for the feedback.
iam thinking of making an simple help thingy later for when you plays the first section with arrows and stuff that learn the player about hidden doors and stuff.
iam working hard on keeping the cartoony look to it all.
and the floaters will change now are they yust the same with different colour thay are actually supposed to be completely different looks to them.

Great game! The only minor problem I found is that hidden doors aren't hidden, in that you can see a white line where the roof sections meet. Perhaps you should make the roof sections overlap slightly (one could be a tiny amount above another so they don't overlap strangely). This will make the hidden areas actually a challenging bonus to find.

Simple... yet fun!

ok so finaly the latest beta its only 2 levels the boss stage is not done yet sorry for that.
but there is some major changes the mini map have bin removed it did yust not seam that it was neaded.
brand new collision and better ai for the enemys.
power meter
larger levels with enemys jumping on to you and attacking from hidden positions.
the mines now leaves burned marks on the floor after explosion
alot of bugg fixes.
this is yust an small portion of the fixes so i recomend that you try it out and let me know wath you think so far.
give it to me bad and good remark i want em all.
but keep in mind that the game is far from finished i have about 60% left if iam lucky.
i yust have so much i want to implent in it.

e=open doors also hidden ones
w=forward
s=backwards
a=left
d=right
left mb=fire
spacekey=jump
i want the game to be close to the classic shooters on the amiga and atari so give me feedback wath do you want in the game?

i know about the jerky going up on stairs i have worked alot but not figured out to get it smoth iam using jopie dopies collision library that i have slightly modified.
if anyone that is better than me on smoth collision please help me out on this to get jopies collision smother?
i belive that the jerky ness is also because i locked the sync rate to 38.
more or less that iam still crappy on many things about coding iam still learning alot.
i started coding when they announced the alienware competition that made me lok at the dbp trial version and after that got i hooked and bought it.

Sorry there peter my mistake there a long time ago so did i test to remove gravity when colliding and forgot to remove it its not 100% smooth now but its better now.
as i typed before iam still experimenting alot with the code so sorry for the strange buggs.
and jopies collision is great by the way.
its more me experimenting to much with it.

Yust wanted to show wath i started to day with.
i thought it was a bit to hard to aim sometimes so i staretd to code an laser sight today look at included screenie.
iam using limbs and the glue object command and got it to look really good now (you should se it ingame).
and then ghosting them.
iam now yust going to write the code so that it beahaves like an laser sight when colliding with walls and such.
you know so that the laser only goes from player and the object it collides with.
and are going to code so that the enemy you have closest in your sight will be marked with an marker.
let me know wath you think of the screenie.
iam planning to put the code up to the code base when i have finished it if anyone is intrested in it?

I'm not sure of alien breed, but was that an old game where the civilians where in a building full of aliens and you had to save them and the building had a lot of fire and you have to put them out to get to some people, if yes then I remember playing the demo on the playstation, if not then thats what this reminds me of

sorry for that in the beginning did i plan to make it to an alien breed clone but it evolved to something else.
alen breed was the top down shooter on amiga computers from team 17.
alot of aliens and running around corridors blasting them.


and for the laser sight.
are having alot of problems with that as it is yust to slow to have objects positioned on to limbs that checks for collision if they are going to be hidden or displayed.
will se if i can get around that somehow.

got so frustrated with the laser sight that i started with the targetting and homing device.
it draws the same power as the the extra weapon modes so you will have to be carefull with it but its really cool.
when you have an enemy targetted now and fires so will all bullets you fire home in on that enemy and blast him.
see screenie and dont mind the red dots they are the laser sight that i resized for the time being until i can get it to work.
and baggers the bullets and all are at its right place now bye the weapon.

will upload an new demo with the homing device that i call seeker.
you can se the hud on the included screenie for the seeker device tryed to fit it to the rest of the huds let me know wath you think of it.
bye the way kalime the latest beta there had some crappy and dodgy moves when walking up on stairs have fixed it an bit now.
it was really fun to work on as i have never programmed intersect object before ever.

the code i used for the homing device and the target system that is built around an code snippet by scypio i belive so thanks to him.

thanks for any input.

and could anyone help on making it work for objects 1 to 260 that is mixed walls and floors.
i worked on an code so it dosent target the enemy if any walls is betwen them but couldt get it to work yet?

ok so now the latest beta with the targetting system and homing bullets so let me know wath you think of it.
turn the homing device on and off with the tab key.
the rest of the controls are the same as before.

so finally finished the 3d smoke function for the game engine looks pretty cool ingame an simple screenie is included.
its supposed to appear where mines explode and when the laser hits enemys probably.

i was bored so i rewrote the mine explosions to only be an particle explosion with particles and particle smoke afterwards let me know wath you think of it?(included screenie)

and holy crapp the deletion process is so freakin fast when using it.
is it my imagination?

ok yet again a little bit bored so i rewrote the player lazer to be an particle lazer take a look and let me know wath you think of it.
will upload an new beta soon so that you all can se the new particle fx in action.

Nice effect, only critcism is that it doesnt look that much like a laser anymore...more of a weapon.
