I havn't checked up on this, but in the videos, their are no hands holding the gun. Is there going to be in the commercial release?

I think the gun used in those demos was just a basic one to show FPSC working. But don't forget, it is possible to import your own objects for the weapons, I believe. So that wouldn't be too much of a problem anyway.

There are no hands. I tried to get tham added, but their artist said "since it is possible to play as either human or alien or cyborg etc it would be wasteful to make so many different models with different hands".

Although when in game they look okay. The colt though is a bit low down :-P

If the Colt is a little low down I take it we can reposition the guns if they are too low down, high up or whatever?

I can think of a few ways round this problem, but it doesn't look that noticeable in the screenshots.

Heh, could always model a hand on the gun. Might make things a tiny bit more difficult when animating the gun though.

If it comes to the point where you want to model a hand on a gun and you're a Truespace user, I could definitly show how to easily work around that problem when the time comes.

Hands aren't that important... though I would like to see all differant types of hands in V2 or an expansion pack.

That would be a ton of work but I would really like it if they made an expansion pack.(I WOULD BY IT!)

Hands aren't too important, as long as they made no hands look nice.

I personally would rephrase that by saying hands on guns aren't that important, as i think most on this forum agree with the whole mele weapons thing, therefore hands are very important, unless you jus want a floating sword on screen for example!

Me personally, I'd prefer having hands on some of the guns - pistols mainly.

They could get round this 'skin colour' problem by modelling gloves?

If you designed all of the models with a "placeholder" limb for the hand, you would then only have to model each type of hand once and use GLUE OBJECT TO LIMB to attach the hand to the gun.

Of course, this could be interesting when it comes to animation.

I would guess that they did not make hands on the guns
because they do not know what kind of main character
your game will have. (all people dont want gloves on their character)
Making the hans is up to you. You can load their X model gun into
a model editor and add hands. How hard can it be.

David - does this mean there is no reloading or do the weapons just dip down out site when they reload?

Thx!

The reloading's interesting. The machine guns sort of tip backwards, wiggle around, dip then go back to normal.

Very Timesplitters.

Personally it doesn't bother me that much. First of all I can't model for the life of me, so I'm gonna have to live with the default animations anyway, and some FPS' don't have hands either. Rainbow Six had no guns at all!

I'm sh*t at modelling therefore I'll have to ask someone else to make them for me. Maybe they should have a weapons set with "gloved" hands and make the generic texture colour editable! Then we could make the gloves look a bit like skin! Ah, sod it. Im out of ideas.

Wow, that's a lot more responses than I expected!!! Besides the
point, I really wasn't thinking about having developer specific main
characters, and anyone serious enough about it would model all their
own weapons anyway. I probably won't buy FPS Creator though(I'd rather program my own game anyway). But, thanks for the posts .

I would just make my own hands and my own guns, I'll still get the FPSC so the enemies and the levels will be easy to create.
