I have a BSP file inside a PK3 file (created using WinZip, then renaming .zip to .pk3)

The TGA textures are in the same "folder" in the PK3 as the BSP file.

When I load the BSP file, none of the textures are loaded. Originally, I tried having to BSP & textures outside of the PK3 file (ie in an ordinary folder) but doesn't seem to work if you have many textures.

The BSP is from the B3D Q3 BSP Demo, so if anyone else could try this I would be greatful.

... how stupid is that, I am on a school comp and I can't type the words "B L I T Z 3 D" or "Q U A K E 3" normally because the firewall blocks it.

The B3D site is restricted but the DB / DBPro / RGT ones aren't. Curious eh?

Maybe they think "blitz" has political overtones, weird though! I bet they don't block out all the variations of "porn site" !

Cheers,

Rich

No Blitz3D is blocked because it is "Found in Denied List E/Games". This is stupid as Blitz3D requires a good knowledge of:

- Maths (At least GCSE standard)
- Physics (Ditto)
- General Puzzle solving

"Porn Site" is blocked but you can search for "sex" on Yahoo.

Knowing mapping thoroughly, I may be able to help you out!
Basically, you are using Quake III Arena maps, well, make a new folder named "maps" in your drive C:\ and put your map's BSP file in there...
Make sure your BSP's filename has no spaces!
Well, then make another folder named "textures" in your drive C:\, and yet another folder inside that one named "(your bsp's filename, without .bsp)"
Put all your custom textures in this folder...
Now simply open WinZip and add your textures and BSP map into a new zip file with the "Save full path info" option checked. When done, rename your ZIP file to a PK3 file and you're ready to go!
To may execute the BSP file from the PK3 file in the same way from DBPro, as DBPro will ignore the "\maps" path...

For this technique to work properly, you must make sure that when you are making your map, your custom textures are inside a folder named "textures" and inside a sub-folder named "(your bsp's filename, without .bsp)", like this:

C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\baseq3\textures\(mapname)\

And that you're making and compiling your map in a folder named "maps" in:

C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\baseq3\maps\

That's all there is to it...

I'm glad to help out on mapping problems, it is my area of most expertise, due to my three-year experience with BSP based mapping...
