Hi, lots of users now have FPSC and we are keen to know how you are getting on. Please post into this forum thread with your comments and also post any screen shots (as I'm sure you are all creating creative games out there)!

Hello The Old Man, if you send an explanation of everything you have done since installing FPSC to running it, and when you think it has failed to work, plus a screen shot of how far you got I can then work out what might be the problem. Email to mike@thegamecreators.com who will be able to help you on Monday. I will help if my assistance is required.

Here's a bug:
When you're just coming out of testing a level, if you don't wait for the level to reload in the level editor and click off onto another app, instead of loading in the background it doesn't load at all and you just get a blank room.

I have 1Gb of RAM, so I don't think that's the problem.

Cellbloc,
Are you on 56K? Keep fighting on Soldier. The hill is well worth the climb. I remember when I had dialup and I had a 200Megabyte file to download. Those were the days.

Yeah, somewhat. A 64k cable modem. Took 20+ hours but it seems pretty cool currently. Going to the hotel to take a nap and then hit it again later.

That slow on a Cable Modem?
Wow. That cable company sucks. Or is it problems with the Line?

I only had to wait 40 minutes for the downloading and insatlling
It was well woth the wait and the $$$
I am currently making a Sci-fi game, which I hope will be very cool.
I have a problem though, and I don't know why...
When I place a sound zone and tells it to play a .wav sound from my desktop, it won't work. I test run the game, and walks in to the sound zone, but nothing happens. I've tried the test game from jasuk70, and a small game from The Nerd, and the sounds works fine with theese games.
I am almost sure I'm doing everything right.

But apart from that, it's a VERY cool and impressive program

Well done guys!

I've gotten along VERY fine but as in my post out of this one, I can't think of a way to upload/whatever/share this to people on the forms.

Domray,
Looks like you've been busy. I've been trying to come up with an idea I would like to do. I am really looking forward to getting underway myself.

I've only had FPSC for half a day but I'm already used to it and have started to get to know the controls. I've made a few maps, and i'll attach one of the levels of my first game - 'Lunar'. I've only made two maps i will use in the game, but i have planned out most of it. No complaints what so ever - not a single problem. Thanks TGC!!!!!

Last night I was looking up at the stars and said "Where the hell is my roof?!"

love it - great fun apart from 1 wee performance issue...

when testing a level - can be quite small the pc freezes for 20-30 seconds - fps drops to 1 - then suddenly it's back up to 30 again just by standing still.

Doesn't happen with the built executable.

i have a problem, is this where i report bugs? anyway heres whats wrong, i cant delete wall segments, in the manual it says the hot key for editing floor is the 'F' key and walls is the 'W' key, well, 'W' is also the waypoint editor key. so when i try to delete a wall in the center of the room i cant edit only the wall keep the floor(as i can delete the floor and keep the wall by pressing the 'F' key). so what i have to do is delete the whole floor and walls, and recreate the whole place in one swoop, because the automatic renderer puts walls in the middle of the room when im editing at times.

so basically, all i need to know is how to delete single wall segments, because on page 41 of the manual w is the key short cut for "paint only wall section of a segment, and on page 49 it says w is for the waypoint editing mode.

Tick paint wall on the tool bar next to paint floor, then use r to rotate the arrow to the wall you want to delete then press right click on the mouse to delete it, right click when clicking on anything segment's, entities, decal's will delete them if they are highlighted.

Im quite shocked as to how good this program actually is, i knew it would be pretty cool but honestly didn't expect it to be nearly as good as it is aside from a couple of texture problem's (although they might be correctable), i haven't had one problem with the program. Only thing that i dread are some of the compile time's as one level i made this morning consisted of 10 lights took about 30 min's to compile.

Not bad for the size of the level but i could have had a lot more light's if i was doing something to pass around to people, and those compile times are going to get massive.
