when i go to build game and try to change the key i double click a message box flickers for half a sec that says press key and then where i want it to say like shift is says pause why is this

You might have a key jammed in. I had the same problem only with the F9 key. I simply pressed F9 a few times then tried to remap the keys again and it worked. Try pressing your "Pause/Break" key a few times.

I'm not entiryly sure what the problem is from your description.

I have sucessfully changed keys. Double click and a window pops up. I press a key, and that keypress appears where it's supposed to.

Could you attach a screen shot of the editor window to show what you mean by the pause bit.

well that all works for me exept for the reload button i did get it to work for the m key but for the alt or delet key it will not work. it will let me set them in the game but then i cant use them in the game if the reload key is set to alt or delete so i set it to m and it works, but i really dont like that key
