hi... what do people recommend as a good modeller for FPSC..

I use 3dmax but it has no .x import...( want to modify someexisting files first) so would need something that could work with these files

3dcanvas is in the manual.. is it a good piece of software.. anyone use it.. seems to inport .x files and export to .3ds which i can use in max..

any opinons greatly appreciated.

blender... free...= cool.....to it does have a quirky interface... can you export to 3ds...

edit

cant see any import for .x or any export to .3ds in blender, guess i want to import an original model, and export it to 3dstudio (prefer 3dmax)

@Noldor.. thanksfor the reply.. alot of people on here do use milkshape alot...

i looked at it, and i cant see an import function for .x, it exports .x but no import..

looks like 3d canvas is the only one so far that can...

@gamespace... gamespace looks good.. but too expensive at the mo...maybe consider it later date, i get a new offer from caligari every month after downloading their demo...

cheers

@maxd

I recommend searching on the net for the X-FILE plugin for your version of 3dsmax, works great for me!

Milkshape does import static x models. But its not in the import
list its under the Tools menu. Its the DirectX tool.
