I will be publicly releasing the RGT•ZIPtools commands this Sunday (US Eastern Time) for all DBPro owners (patch 3.1 required.) The download will be listed at the RGT site: www.realgametools.com

For those not interested, move along. Nothing to see here...

For those interested, they are native third party commands that add ZIP file access to DBPro. Unzip files directly to a memblock, get the names of the files in the ZIP, etc. Supports password encrypted ZIPs also, so you can protect your media from prying eyes .

This includes good documentation, examples, the unZIP TPC DLL, and keyword highlighting files as well.

FYI: ZIP compression is not available in the public version.

Please direct questions to [email protected] - I don't frequent these forums often enough to provide support here.

I ordered from RGT, so I get this anyway but I would like to thank GuyS. I was really shocked at the reaction I saw in the RGT forums when GuyS announced the tools would only be released to those who bought from RGT. Some seemed to think they should get equal treatment. Well no, sorry! The tools are property of Guy Savoie, he can do with them what he chooses, and if he chooses to release the tools only to his customers, I can understand that.

So ya, Thanks

I understand ,why people are upset.

This means, that it's all right for
Darkbasicpro.com to make som commands
to DBP ,which only their customers get
fully ,but none of RGT's

I mean when we ordered it was only said,
that people in Europe should order from
darkbasic and in America from RGT.

Hmm... But there is another side also.
If Darkbasicpro hires Guy really as
a full-time member, then he vanishes
behind that DBDN -wall and we would
never hear from these rebellious
add-ons again...

No no no no no. No!

Guy is not an employee of DBS. He works for himself running Real Games Tools as a distributer of DBPro. If he wants to distribute something HE writes to HIS customers that is HIS RIGHT.

I really hope we are not going to have this kind of complaining on this forum too. There was too much of this on the RGT forums.

Sorry IanM, I do apperceiate the customer loyalty thing, and its totally his right, thats fine. But to make it not available at all would have been unfair - a small price would have been ok, I just wanted to use the utility Anyway it doesn't matter now, I'll b able to get it soon

If you read the documentation in the zip file, you will see that you already had this chance (1st page last paragraph) - you just had to discuss it with Guy.

BTW, it also says in the documentation that he will be producing a version that allows compression at a later date - for RGT customers only.

sounds like a big mess to me ... and to be honest i don't really care much cause Zip and Rar are pretty simple formats. Plus we already have LZH from DarkBasic Enhanced

i mean if he wants to release to RGT customers only then shouldn't be a problem - because its not likes it the DarkBasic Object Format loader or something and someone else will no doubt release their own at some point.

this is more of a case of time saving on the part of people, and no doubt its more of a big sorry for not packaging the manuals upon release

By the way I would like to point this out.
Guy didn't say he wouldn't release them. Just at a later date for those that purchased in the UK. I feel that if he has to take time to sell a product in the US then he has the right to choose if he wants to release extras for his customers over here. Yes they are DBS sales, but at the same time RGT because he has to get the supply in, box it and then ship it. I am more than thankful that we have someone like Guy doing this. Some distributors never do this kind of stuff or put in this kind of work for their customers. If DBS did this stuff over on the UK side, I wouldn't mind waiting my turn.
Thanks Guy.
