How many lights do you have? It may just be calculating the light maps. Also, are you using full lightmapping, if you have a lot of static lights it'll take forever.

When in test mode light maps take forever to load I have seen like waitning 5 minutes for it to load a light map but it does load.

Enjoy

Depending on your lights, full lightmapping could take hours...days, even.
When you test your level, you are not loading the level, you are creating it. So if you want light mapping, the engine full do a full calculation. Test your levels without lightmapping, or quick lightmapping.

Yes, it's likely you have lightmapping on FULL. It can take a very long time based on the complexity of your level the number of lights. Until you complete your game, just use fast lightmapping.
