Ok, this isnt an engine error, its more a computer error. When I try to test a level using this code...

CLS
load object "tris.md2",10
WAIT KEY

A Windows XP error report pops up. It says
DBPCompiler.exe

Error Signature

AppName: dbpcompiler.exe AppVer 1.0.0.3 ModName: Unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset 3e060000

I seem to get these error messages a lot, when working on games & models with XP, not to mention some other problems, is my OS doing something wrong, or do I need to wipe out my drive & re-install Win ME, to get it to work right, any suggestions?

Thanks,

No, I upgraded to XP Home from ME, should I go back & wipe my drive, it needs it anyway? It seems everything I do, screws something up, & then the other thing doesnt work.

Thanks,

Not to ME, I wouldn't.

If you must re-install something, try XP again first...

It sounds like something has got corrupted...

Either that or the .MD2 file is dodgy...

Hmmmm, I do remember when I installed the XP Home Upgrade, before I installed, I was getting 10 error messages on bootup, that wouldnt go away, but when I installed XP, they went away.

That would have been the second time I had installed XP on my comp, the first time my comp crashed completely & I later found out 3 parts were bad, I think the tech support line said it may have been some factors between my comp & running XP on it.

This time, my modeler doesnt work right, it wont make a good model, but the md2 file works, as I have used it in other engines. Truely, I think it is some kind of wierd compatability feature between my comp & XP, even though I have been thinking of building myself a computer from scratch.

Do you think that could be the problem?
Thanks,

If everything doesn't work right then you can get really weird things going on...

Personally, I wouldn't build a computer from scratch - its too much trouble and no comeback if it all goes wrong.

Try a non-full install and see how it goes would be the best way to start, I think.

Well, I only have a recovery disk, the XP is an upgrade, but I am serriously thinking of backing what little I need to backup on a CD, then using the recovery CD, & re-installing XP.

Certainly would be a good idea. I presume the Microsoft web site isn't much help.

Don't worry as Patch4 is just around the corner with almost everysingle format currently being used being axed (with the exception of DirectX) then i felt it'd be important to be adding MD2 support which i've had on my hdd for sometime in DarkBasic Enhanced to Professional.

probably have the results out within the week ...
as well as the other popular formats to follow suit.
These of course will all be developed with converters to DBO once the format is in a Gold state

if you'd like to try your had at importing yourself then here is the MD2 Header ->

its one of the simplest 3D formats about

you can use GLcmds instead of the ST (Skin Texture Vertex) as the ST's use the Byte format to depict the UV points and the DarkBasic engine uses a 0.0 -> 1.0 float (which is how the glcmds have been setup)
