Bestotr,

Well, a download instead of a boxed product saves both you and me money and time. It's only 30mb.

Dom,

Yes - 1.9 - 2.9% of the transaction + a $0.30 service charge. Not alot really.

Zotoaster,

The aim of the game is to save Dumbo & Cool's friends from slavery; wait until the demo comes out and the introduction film should explain it all.

Drew; do you have any interesting facts about DaC to keep us entertained on the run-up to the demo?

(e.g. Number of Lines of code, strangest bug found so far etc.)

Oh, and the strangest bug? Easy;

I once used the wrong number for the enemy object, which was next to the object number for a pile of logs.

I had a pile of logs patrolling and shooting at the player. Another time, I had a similar bug, which made some coins fall to the ground as if they were rain.

heheh! these coins sound cool, perhaps for a bonus level there are lots of coins falling like rain and you catch as many as you can! heheh

Drew would it be okay with you if I pulled a few strings and tried to get some real Katie Holmes endorsement? (I know your not all for it so I won't do anything without your permission)

Otherwise, keep up the great work man, this looks great!!

W00t - Page 10!

Thanks for the nice feedback...
What strings would you be pulling? I'm mostly worried about getting my ass kicked for already forging an endorsement.
What's your action plan?

Again, I doubt Mrs. Holmes will endorse my pitiful excuse for a game; I'd have to pay her to do a photoshoot with a copy of the game, or to hire a photographer, for travelling costs to any photoshoot etc... Money I don't have.

Maybe I could get her to say a few kind words about it, but why would she? I bet she gets a 1,000,000,000 requests like this every day. And besides, she most likely doesn't even play games.

Talk to me on Myspace.com about it

she'll porbably say shes too rich even for that, thats celebrities for ya.. i heard that jennifer lopez wouldnt go anywhere without getting this stuff always being sprayed in her path, so if katie homes is like that then i doubt shell even rate it good enough to mention it, let alone let it enter her brain

Sorry fellas,

I'm going to have to delay the demo release further again.
I've been working on it, but a number of new issues in split screen mode emerged last night which I never knew about, and I've had to work on fixing them.

The demo is very close to being done, but I can't say exactly when.

I think what people do wrong is they set a release date before they have got anywhere near finishing the game.

I would guess so Benjamin.

I'm actually very close to the deadline; I've got some bugs to fix, about 5 shots for the introduction film and a handful of animations to put in. No more than a weeks work. A slow weeks work.

More to come...

Yes, head on over and give it a playtest thrashing so we can sort out all of the bugs.

I can't believe how many times the game is crashing for other people

It's amazing how many bugs David R has found. Maybe we can get a competition going to see who finds the most. I suppose it's good though; if I get them all sorted out now, I won't have to sort them out later...

Thanks for the feedback!

The demo will be slightly updated on August 31st with some minor improvements, major stablity *and* the introduction film so you can all see why Dumbo & Cool's friends are trapped in cages. *

* (Careful readers of this thread will already know why)

That was an awesome video. It's very professional.

How do you make your cut scenes? In DBP or in a seperate program?

The bubbles are a scrolling plain, locked onto the camera - pretty easy to do.

AND the cape on Lecture is done using Cloth & Particles pack. All hail Cloth & Particles pack, the only third part DLL I've ever used.

And, Gish is FINALLY in the game, in the 'flesh'. He winks and stuff, as well as pulsates, but your obviously can't see that in screenshots. He is in a regular cage, but when you open it - suprise! Gish! Accompanied by a bit of music from his game.

And, finally, some WIP screenshots of the factory level ( level 6 )

Now, instead of rescuing Schmumps from cages in Level 6, you rescue them from slavery - they have hard hats, walking around the place, slaving it out, and you have to come along and save them.

So, here is what they look like;

When you 'free' them, their hard hat comes flying off in an array of magical particles...

And they say thanks to Dumbo / Cool quickly before glowing white hot and teleporting away. (To Happy Valley, where they were taken away from in the introduction film) Then there hard hat comes back down to earth, landing with a clink where they once were...

Cool!
I like how the hard hat goes flying up in the air. Can you pick it up from the ground?
And since those are WIP screens, I assume there will be more than 2 slaves to rescue, right?

You can't pick them up from the ground but you can walk over them, not through them, if that makes sense.

The Oil rig level is split into two levels, one with 4 slaves and the other with 6 - so yeah, theres more than two.
