The User Manual / Refernce Manual shows the commands and discriptions. Im looking for a book on actual usage with some lines of code around the command to show how it is used. Many examples on 3D would be prefered.

I would expect the book to be over 1000 pages and will pay the bucks for it.

I believe this is the only book for DarkBasic specificaly. It covers both DB and DBPro and should be out the first week of February. It was suppose to be out January 15th but it has been delayed. Mine is on pre-order

Here is the author's website for this book as well.

Thanks for the info! I look forward in buying the book.

While in waiting mode, this looks to be the best place to go and start learning DB:

Don't say anything about DBPro, just DB! I think the author should make some serious updates to his site, telling us what all the book contains.

I don't want a book just for DB, I want one more for DBP!

This book is suppose to cover both DB and DBPro. The author posted on a yahoo group dedicated to darkbasic back in October of 2002 to start generating excitement for the book here is the the post of from the author.

(Author's Post October 22, 2002)
We're close to finishing the first official DarkBASIC book on the market! Although there will be a lot of DarkBASIC Pro content, we are still supporting DBV1 in the book, and the CD-ROM will have sources for both versions. We've currently finished 17 chapters, with two more to go.

The final chapter will be a complete game that you get to develop, a car combat game like Twisted Metal! You will learn to write this game from scratch, including how to create the 3D models of the cars and the levels (using Anim8or, a free 3D modeling tool included on the CD-
ROM!!), and it will be multiplayer, so you can challenge your friends over lan or internet. If you've ever wanted to write your own online game, this is a great way to learn. The book also includes about a dozen more games and hundreds of demos, with a CD-ROM jam-packed with
DB content.

I'd like to generate some enthusiasm because this is going to be a great book! Whether you have no programming experience at all or have written several games on your own, you will find this book fascinating, because we're covering everything and holding nothing back! The book will feature a forward by Lee Bamber, the guy who created DarkBASIC (and he playtested the code in the book for us)!!
Plus, it is being edited by none other than legendary game author Andre' LaMothe. Is that cool or what?

You can pre-order the book now from Amazon.com for $41.99, with free shipping. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1592000096/qid%3D1035327286/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/103-9163340-4251815

If you are located in the UK, you can order it from Amazon-UK here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1592000096/ref=sr_aps_books_1
_1/026-6758586-3971621

The CD-ROM will come with a special Premier Trial Edition of DarkBASIC and DarkBASIC Professional, so you can get started right away trying out the programs in the book! This is not just the demo, but the full compiler capable of building executables, but limited to 30 days. Is that cool or what?

Tell me what you think of the new book! We are going to be raffling several copies autographed by both authors, plus there will be additional promos going on in January when the book comes out. Keep an eye on www.premierpressbooks.com, www.jharbour.com, and www.darkbasic.com for details!

Regards,
Jonathan Harbour
