Hello all!

Don't we all just love computer problems?

I've got a Athlon XP 1800+ cpu, a Radeon 7000 video card, and the system is Windows XP Home.

For some reason, I can install and run DBPro the first few times okay, but then some driver gets messed up and I have to completely reinstall Windows to do anything involving graphics on my computer (even with the latest driver installed).

Is anyone else having this sort of problem? Thanx a lot in advance.

I run XP Pro with a Radeon9700 and don't have any problems like this - do you have the latest Radeon drivers for your card? DX9? and Patch 3.1 for DBPro?

Cheers,

Rich

If you're running the Radeon 7200 (Or All-In-Wonder), you'll probably run into a lot of problems in XP. I ran the all-in-wonder version for almost a year under windows 9x without a problem, but when I went to XP, the system choked on it. I was able to get around most of the problems by installing the Windows 2000 drivers instead, although some of the capability may be reduced.

Hmm...I did install the latest driver, and the whole computer crashed. Couldn't do anything with it.

No, I don't have DX9, so I'll get that today.

Or maybe XP Home is like the NT Windows versions: They're lacking some DLL for this stuff to work properly.

But what's really confusing me is that somehow DB (or any programs made in DB) are screwing up driver after driver, so that ANY program that involves using bitmaps or graphics crashes and says "Such and such a program has run into an error and needs to close". I'm so sick of that warning that if I see it one more time, I'll take a chainsaw to this computer and start over.

Thanx guys.

Are you using XP Home or XP Pro?

And what video card do you have?

Okay, I installed DBPro on my other computer. It's running Win ME. Both versions (when DBPro wants to work) don't start up when I double click on the shortcut, use the CD, or go to the Launch.exe The only way I've been able to open DBPro is to double-click on a .dba or .dbpro file.

This is interesting. Think I have a bad CD? Or should I call the tech support people? (If there's a number)

Anything that involves hardware acceleration or 3-D graphics after these problems, no.

Things like notepad and some emulators work when set to software emulation. I'm getting so frustrated with this that I wanna take a chainsaw to my computer. And a shotgun. And about 2 million other things for that matter.

I have an AMD 1600+, ATI Radeon 7500, 1 Gig Ram, and XP Pofessional. Everything is running just fine.

Although, a friend of mine "HAD" the same config and he encountered the same issues as Shining Moonblade. We changed drivers and even his motherboard, still no go.

In the end, we changed his video card and all his probs went away.

Hope that helps.

I had problems with my radeon mobility m6 with certain games which was fixed by installing the omega drivers (for all radeons) they're unofficial but they worked for me.

Hmmm.....what video card did he change to? That'll at least give me an idea of what to switch to. ATI and Radeon doesn't wanna work for me.

He switched to a Radeon 7500 w/DVI option rev#2. My card is the same thing spec wise, but they look different.

Has anyone experienced DBPro with the Radeon 9700? And what about DBPro and Radeon 9700 and XP? Do these combinations have any problems?

Juso - read the 3rd message in this thread! I have a Radeon9700Pro (128meg) and XP Pro and it works perfectly with DB/DBPro (DX9, latest ATI drivers)

Cheers,

Rich
