Lawrence,

To answer some of your questions in more detail, this is a beginner's book,
so it doesn't really get into special effects, but there is a game project
at the end of the book that's called Crazy CARnage, it's a two-player car
combat game using TCP/IP, so that's pretty advanced, in 3D. Yes, the book
covers both DBC and DBPro, both versions of the source code from the book
are on the CD-ROM. But you can learn more from my web site. =) However,
keep in mind we couldn't just write this book "for DarkBASIC fans", you know,
so we had to have a theme, and that was "for beginners". DB is a great starter
language, so it worked out great. I suppose some long-time DB experts will be
disappointed, but hey we couldn't really do much more in a beginner's book.
There is also a complete DB/DBPro reference on the CD-ROM in PDF format.

Use [ url ] and [ /url ] (without the spaces of course)

If you have the authors email address, you might like to let him know that the page title is 'Visual Basic .NET Programming for the Absolute Beginner'

I have the book, there is a post a little furthur down in the forum list that I put up a couple of days ago.

I have been in contact with the authors a few times to find out about the book, read my post to see how I got it early.

I'm on page 125 and the authors are right it is for a complete noob and I consider myself a noob but everything they have already gone over I already knew but I read over it again anyway.

I'm sure alot of things furthur into the book will help me a lot I may just skip around a little.

I think the book will answer alot of questions I see in the forums and it is probably alot better and more helpful than the manual that came with DBP, that is nothing but a list of commands.

I think the book is geared for DB v1.xxx but there is things in it for DBP and the cd has DBP code on it. and anything made in DB v1.xxx can run in DBP with some rework of the code unless it is a really huge project it should not be a problem.

J. S. Harbour also has a dark basic group on yahoo in the groups area and it could use a little action from you DB users out there so support him a little, buy his book and join his yahoo group!!!
