You can download the demo version for free from this site and you don't know how you understand the manual or not because you haven't seen them if you haven't seen the demo

I just want to point out that the multiplayer document isn't in the demo version of Pro, only the full version.

If you want to write a multiplayer game but don't actually understand what a URL is or an IP address, etc - then to be perfectly honest unless you're willing to do a lot of homework first, I'd try something else.

Cheers,

Rich

The Multiplayer Secrets in the documentation would be great... however he's asking howto get a machines IP and the link to Lagmaster's is gone.

I'd offer my DLL to grab it, but until KG tells me otherwise its for his use only
Especially as it has some extention script for DirectPlay, which he might want kept to himself.

As Rich suggested do your homework on these and you'll get your answer. The help in DB Std 1.13 is better than that in Pro 1.03.1

I'm just playing around with the multiplayer commands myself (in DBPro), and I can tell you that even with all the commands that Lee has included, it's not an easy task.

Heres a link to example code - you'll need to register to get at it : http://www.darkbasiccodebase.co.uk/uploads.asp?offset=80

I'm not sure, are you actually asking how to play a game over the internet or how to write one?

I have to say that if you are not sure on how to play one then you arn't going to sucessfully write one for atleast a few years of learning yet.

As for not owning DBPro, I think i'm right in saying this is the DBPro forum, ???

Rich - "I just want to point out that the multiplayer document isn't in the demo version of Pro, only the full version."

not entirely true ... Trial3 has the TPF SDK and Multiplayer Secrets

However really networking isn't something for those who haven't the foggiest of what they're doing.
I'm working on a NetScripter, which allows you to setup the script in plain english then it translates it into a network.h which you then include and _enum_network ... however it makes everything for you quite simply.
Will have to wait and see if KG allows me to release it though because he is paying for this.
