Poetry, apart from being offensive, that comment amptly demonstrates that you don't understand The Jimmeh.

He's a phenomenon. A state of mind. A force of nature.

Thats The Jimmeh.

(NB: He's also as mad as cut snakes, but thats a separate point)

Still planning basic stuff just to let you know this isn't stale/dead/rotting/molding/etc. I'll be posting a list of possible weekends soon, and ideally where it'll take place not too long after that.

Hey Mouse count me in as a definite maybe. I don't even have to ask my mom! just need to figure things out with work. Set a date. Just about any will do. Oooh maybe AOE3 will be out by then, I can bring a switch and some cable. Not to mention mad skillz.

I could also give a presentation on how to give a presentation on a topic you know nothing about.

Ian
I would be more than happy to come, however, I was wondering about a Venue change. How about instead of NH which would make it hard for people from the west coast to come out to there, to have it in the middle of the country, say Omaha Nebraska? The reason is both of cost and location. Please give it some serious thought. I would be more than happy to arrange something like that here.

Yeah and there isn't really a good location to have it in the US anyway without having to fly/drive a good ways. So it really doesn't matter for most people where it is at. There are quite a few people in GA I have noticed (from the people I help) ,so we may have a (mini-)convention next year in Atlanta, GA or there abouts. But this year I am going to try my best to get to the NH one

sooooooo.......what about the one in england......Manchester?!! Noooooo, never been there, but I know its a dump! Then so is the nearest town to me, meh, I would've thought somewhere like Herfordshire or even Bedford business park would make more sense (if it was bedford I could go down to the customer services of Maxon Cinema 4D and ask lots of silly questions ) plus it'll only be half an hour up the road oh well.

Anyway I'm not even a maybe, I doubt i'd even go, just out of curosity, whats being said about the UK one?

Well, if you had checked the UK post, you will have noticed its being held in Chichester, the most happenin' city in the most happenin' sussex in England. I do agree, however, that Manchester is a dump. Any town or city that doesn't have "Chichester" in its name is a dump. That also includes some villages too.

Maybe for you, but not for me.

Ian T You should make a web page with webcams for every one who can't come so that they can watch.

I might be able to come and if I do I will bring some wireless routers and some Ethernet cables as well as some desktops and laptops, I might be able to get a projector to.

Put me down for a maybe, I'd LOVE to come, even though I can't code in DB worth crap. I'll just go to meet people and see what I can see, if I can go...

I was thinking of doing a convention over on the west coast. Maby next year, when I'm not considered a kid.

Formerly I was CDBGames, and formerly to that i was Duke Nukem, and even more formerly to that
I was Punk Rock 101. Got it?

I was considering putting together a conference next year too. It would be in Philadelphia, Maybe we can try to put together a conference on the west and east coast at the same time and link them with lots of web cams.

SoulMan-> I simply don't have the means to organize something like this outside of where I live; I'm sorry. However if someone else sets up another convention simultaniously, as has been suggested, I'd be glad to help synchronize the events via webcam.

Quote: " Ian T You should make a web page with webcams for every one who can't come so that they can watch."

That's a great idea .

Hope coming over works out.

Everyone, please refer to the first post in the thread for the possible weekends on when the convention will be held (currently every weekend after the first in October).

Okay, now the kicker.

I've had several offers from people to bring projectors, network cables, and other great equipment to help make the convention a fun one. However it's going to make money to rent the place (probably a hotel room) for the two days. If everyone on the 'maybe' list pays their attendance fee in advance, that'd probably cover it, but I simply can't rely on a maybe. Once we've decided on a date, I'm going to need a lot more 'definatlies' or this won't get off the ground. So if you can make it over on that weekend, please say so and help this pan out .

Welcome to the world of convention organising. Dont forget you may need to pay extra for food, drinks, laptop & projector hire...

And as you Americans are a litigious lot, you may also need insurance...

it would have saved me a bit of dissapointment when i noticed you were in the US if you had mentioned it was in the US in the post, Manchester is a city here in the UK. (your silly american ancestors weren't inventive enought to invent new place names )

oh well.. i would have liked to have come but it's a little bit far

Ian,

Any weekend is great with me. With a slight preferance toward the end of the month. How much do you think it will be per person. If I pay up I will work extra hard to make sure I show up. So I am a definite as in I will definitely help defray my share of costs and then do my darndest to actually be there.

Thanks for putting it together,

`fodder
