With the limited distribution and licensing for Dark Game SDK, I looking at N3d. Is there any comparisons out there of these two?

Well, lets start with function counts ...

DGSDk = 1200+
N3D = 67 (generously including support macros)

When the count for N3D gets a little higher, it may be worth looking into. It's a little early in the day to be looking seriously at it right now.

Thanks IAM, those figures are a BIG help.
Though N3d says 500 command. Why the difference between 67 and 500?

@Nathan Krygier - Cool Dev Team has been dropping the ball lately, which is why I was looking.

You were talking about this weren't you?

http://www.nuclearglory.com/tutorials/N3D/101/

I still count 67.

I don't doubt it'll get better over time, but you can't base your decision on code that is going to be written some time in the future ... unless you are planning on not coding anything until it's complete.

no IanM I was looking that this:
http://www.nuclearglory.com/php-bin/t2/manage/page.php?id=34&

There seems to be a discrepancy. It promises to be a power package but am still on the fence which one to get.

Though my biggest prob with Dark Game SDK is gone with the pro version out.

Hey, nobody invited me to the party?

The link that IanM is linking to "http://www.nuclearglory.com/tutorials/N3D/101/" you may notice the number "101", meaning version number 1.01 which was released for free ages ago.

The currently available commercial release is v2.06 with 500+ commands (not including macros or a few support routines).

The upcoming 3D command support will add another 700+ commands to the engine quickly bringing it up to 1200+ or 1300+ commands and we're still in major version 2 of N3D.

There are also some things coming that I'm not even going to tell you all about until it's out the door.

Quick note:
v2.07 isn't far off (it will include some of the prelimanry 3D commands) and will add about 100 new commands over the 2.06 release. I just had a hard-drive failure that backed us up a few days and we're still flying at impressive speeds with N3D.

Guys, really, email us or post on our forums with questions like this. You know how many people I had emailing in asking if there were only 60 to 70 commands in N3D? It took me until about 10 minutes ago to figure out why they were all asking me that.

Edit:

If you want to see the full command list, you can download our latest manual at:

http://www.nuclearglory.com/php-bin/t2/manage/files/n3d/FinalRelease/v206/docsPack.exe

Count 'em yourself.

The document layout has been "improved" too, check my journal to see the new colors.

Hahaha, ouch.

I'll have you know that Alaska is the only place cold enough that the gremlins can't get me.

You better believe it. After almost being eaten alive by little furballs with razor teeth, we're back and meaner than before

Immediately after the 2.07 update (oncoming as I speak). Should be here anytime now. Probably would've been out by today but the drive crash set us back about 2 days. I'm haulin' butt tonight.
