This code

creates a big black screen with nothing playing on it. I've checked that the animation is in the right place, I added some controls to move around the screen and look at it from all sides but still it doesn't work. Any help?

From your call to dbLoadAnimation you are using an ID number of 6 yet in the call to dbPlayAnimationToImage you reference ID number 52 to access the width and height of the animation. I'm suspecting that those values will be returning 0, 0 as your animation is loaded with an ID of 6. If this is the case then the rectangle for drawing the animation is going to be non existent. Try changing this so it uses dbAnimationWidth ( 6 ) and dbAnimationHeight ( 6 ).

*feels really stupid* Ok, I fixed the id numbers, but still it doesn't play the animation onto the plane. It's just black.

I think the problem may be that I'm using Visual Studio 6 without the dgsdk update.
