k, kewl. I am going to progress on game planning today, so I will get community views on these ideas, I am in a philosophic mood atm, hence the long Plato speech on the religion thread in Gen Talk, so I will prolly add a sense of Samurai religion and philosophy and legends into the planning, to add to the effect of life in the Samurai era

nice game, Seppuku . Would you mind if i use it and screenshots for a Game Developers Magazine I'm going to post up here soon? It's practically just advertising. I'll post the screenshots, post a link to here, post who is developing it, or the team leader (you ) write about what you've said, give my opinion (which is very good ), and itll be part of the magazine thing. So, mind if I use your game?

Yeah sure, but don't add the 'Tsuki Morita' concept art, its to Anime and childish for my liking I hate it.

Uh Team members are

Seppuku Arts (Bryn Price) - Game leader 3D modeller, coder, planner, FMV dude, animator, music creator, and some 2D stuff, basically one of each job, as I trained myself to each each as it was gonna be me on me own.

Eedam - 3D modeller, brains behind the team

Sett- Coder

Animeblood (Cian Rice)- 2D Huds, images, and textures

and well thats it so far

hope that helps providing team info for the mag

Yeah sure you can advertise it, full page is fine .

Looks, I like red and oriental feel, as its a Japanese styled game, red is a popular colour for orinental country.

I will try to get you a logo to but on there, with the Kanji saying ronin

Right, I rendered something as a background for the main menu, looked at the time, and thought bugger, nearly Karate, so I slapped it in photoshop and added the text which would normally be done in DBP, as you can see I was in a rush.

Here, comments please

Nice. The only thing i wouldnt do is have the menu options there, as its an add, and you rarely see the main menu or menu option in an add .

thanks for the comments, I was thinking of animating it, so the camera rotates around the sword while the player can choose their options and the grass blows in the wind , but the problem is my maximum resolution output for animations is 640x480 because my version of cinema 4D is free, but I will resize it in DBP.

Okay, fair point, will leave the options section for the inventory menu, and not have a change ables resolutions, just leave it at 1024x768 (but can switch between 16 and 32)

oh, no, lol, sorry, you misunderstood me. It seemed to me you were doing that for the ad for the magazine, but you are acting like it is a screenshot of the menu. When i said:
Quote: "have the menu options there"

i meant the menu choices, not the choice of options in the menu, if you get what i mean . Well, for a main menu, IMO, its awesome, i thought it was for the ad, hence my comments about not seeing a menu in an ad . But anyways, animeblood was kind enough to make an ad for it, here it is:

@Gil & Anime, thats nice, never looked at it as a politcal angle, but is true and more effecting, love it, I'd better change names a bit, Takeda clan was a real clan, people would get annoyed if I made them evil .

Not to look like an a-hole (because I already am ) but 'One man' should be 'one group' as it is really a group, can't say army, gang, posse, homies, Da hoods, da hoes . Akai isn't alone, needs differant character to weild differant elements

@Gil, I see, well I think the options will go into the inventory part, so it suits individual users and saves on coding .

The Grass is now thinner it don't suck, its now animated in water, the wate is animated too, dide start to render the animation but took 20mins to do 4 frames, so I will restart it before I go to work, I cannot put too much detailed grass because my system goes kaputt, I know, tried it 3 times.

As for the sword, I could swear I was doing this scene quickly because I had Karate, so detail will be added.

Spheres, the game has magic, the only I can think where magic can be wielded with is orbs/spheres or such like and magic staffs, so I chose the spheres thats where they come into play, which is part of it.

@Anime thanks, but I thought it was too think myself, which is why I thinned it.

I wouldn't make a render if it had no significance to the game and just to show off, unless it isn't Ronin related itself

Long time no post, but, myself and Sett have decided on something, as I have found the Ronin engine slowish on my system to load.

So we have decided to ditch DBP in this project, instead, we will use C++. C#, Truevision3D and DirectX 9.0 to do this project, but our knowledge on the two SDK's is scarce, so the project is postponed, once I get movement engine sorted, I will start posting again, sorry dudes
But think, it will look better once its done. Plus whilst learning the languages, it will give me more time to model stuff for it, so you won't have to put up with the cubes.

[EDIT]
Myself and Sett argued on what to do with this in C++ really, so we're gonna make this decision through the progress of Ronin, meaning this is no longer a C++ project and has gone back to DBP.

Here is the demo, a little more than 3MB. Just the engine that we have for now: battle engine, talk engine, collision, movement and animation. More will come. Tell me you're FPS and you specs, just to see if I'm no the only one to have a good FPS.

Nice work sett. Media is on the way really dudes, I sent an untextured character to Eedam for animations, he is working on it, I've been rewriting up the design plan (it got lost ) and well all other media has been lost in my reformat, but the media is being built up . As soon as I get onto the design for the opening scene, I can make it, plus I'll need to start the music too.

We had one person offer to help from the same forum I and Eedam go too, but I set him some work, and no feedback.

thank you dude Actually I'd better test it on my new gfx card, just to give sett feedback too

[edit]
87-90 fps
And well the computer details are in my sig, don't need to repeat myself
I'd like to say it feels better than the original code you sent me, good work dude, I'll ask Eedam when I'm on msn to send you Tsuki animated if he hasn't already.

That demo is looking very promising guys. One thing i would say though, is that he moves a little quick. You should have him walking, but to make him run you duoble tap up. Then you should have a Stamina bar which runs out eventualy, this will prevent the character running away from everything. But it does look super promising so far.

thanks for the feedback, guys. I'll do a walk-run function with a stamina bar, as BigAdd said. I will re-do the battle engine with a timer bar with the atk-def that Sepp sent me. Soon more screenies.
