dude!
Well i have an idle animation and a death animation, as you have seen, a run and walk is on the way and i'm drawing up some of the more complicated attacks/defensive moves, work is getting in the way a little but they are coming on smoothly, i drew up some blueprints for characters that i think we should stick too, so i can transfer animation over to different characters, if thats ok with you, i'll send em over later if you pop up on msn

i'm glad its getting some interest

your history is all wrong how could there be a castle when there are still clans fighting. castles didnt form until japan came together to form one big community(after the japanese thought they were the most favored among "the godS")the samurai before that were warriors but when castle towns started forming and they didnt live in villages among clans, after that they became the police

Sorry dudes been away for the weekend, relatives in Kent

@Oolite, sweet dude

Quote: "your history is all wrong how could there be a castle when there are still clans fighting. castles didnt form until japan came together to form one big community(after the japanese thought they were the most favored among "the godS")the samurai before that were warriors but when castle towns started forming and they didnt live in villages among clans, after that they became the police"

So your saying all other samurai games based on that time are wrong too, I think you're thinking further back than the game is based, sorry if I have to contradict by using games as examples, but meh, In onimusha its based with castles around the time the Hojo and Takeda clan existed (As there are referances to them) and Shogun is based around the same time, and you play as the clans with castles to defend, if my history is wrong, then I am not the only one who has got it wrong (And Shogun shouldn't have got it wrong being a historical game), because as I recall the Hojo and Takeda clans existed when castles existed in Japan. If you mean just the castle towns, I was never sure on that one so I don't plan on any exploration through castle towns, as in the plot there is no need.

Apologies for the lack of updates, but this weekend I am working on the graphical side of Ronin and will put more time into it over half term, where I will be creating test models, animations and scenes, along with application of shaders, so far I have grass, true HDR and water shaders for this, and am looking for true shadow (not like the stencil shadows you get with DBP) and normal map shaders, but I will start with out them.

So expect a graphical demo during half term, hopefully soon after sett can implement the graphical part into his programming and straighten out his bug (if he hasn't done already) into another demo

[edit]
Started it, with True HDR shader (Thanks to Explicate- See Ultimate Shader thread 2.0) And I used one of my models that is not Roni based, but I needed something other than a cube to test with

I just finished adding the water shader and skybox, and well the FPS is 25-30, which isn't too bad, normally I would get 40. I will post a screeny as soon as the grass is in and maybe with a Ronin character or something

well I'll have the option to turn shaders on and off, so those with lower specs can run with optimum FPS, tis only fair

@Oddmind thanks.

As for the updates on the shaders, all is implemented (except shadows and normal maps, but I don't really need to sacrifice any more FPS) theres a few bugs here and there, but they will be straightened out. But Sett cannot use them as he has DBP online 5.4 and cannot update, so he cannot compile my source code, so shaders will only be implemented once the engine is complete.

Oh a screenshot of the shaders. (But screenshot was taken during experimenting, but you get the idea)

There is not HDR in the main scene as I was fixing the brightness bug, hence the dark HDRI in the boxes. But there is the grass and water shaders in there as well and x6 antialias, but thats because I told me graphics card to do that, so not DBP related , which has lowered the FPS. But don't worry, for those without shader compatibility, theres will be an option to kill them

Well I'll post an update...

On the shaders :
using water and grass, no HDR

I've given Sett the code for that, and dunno how far he's done.

On the media:
The test level is done, the trees are just place holders for when the full version of Quikly is released (It will have a tree generator, which I will use) The house is just a place holder for Eedam's castle, I have it, but I have to go somewhere, so a quicky model had to be done
Of course all the textures are place holders for me own

HDR is High dynamic range, can be various things, this case, its the glow effect

Quote: "and why the hell u got with 2 effects 90 FPS?! "

Lol oops, didn't notice that, thats not the FPS data, thats the light angle data, was playing with lights when I took the screeny lol, 90 FPS would be good even without shaders for me lol, maybe I should specify what each number is and label it in future

The last image is just in Cinema 4D, haven't exported it yet The one with the weird guy could be scaled down, but hasn't yet been a concern as much as other things, so its been neglected a bit. But thanks for the comments

[edit]
Well I've posted this at CGTalk in the game making section, over here, contains some screenshots that have not been posted here (like the castle and tsuki morita)

Here is some screen shots of the updated engine:

Here is the menu, the font will be change as well as some other things:
http://img2.uploadimages.net/119654Ronin11.JPG

Here is the loading screen:
http://img2.uploadimages.net/718385Ronin12.JPG

I'm the king of the hill! The character can walk on the hills and get down, a little buggy, tough:
http://img2.uploadimages.net/638902Ronin13.JPG

Here is the water shader(I know, the character can walk on water, but that will be fixed):
http://img2.uploadimages.net/268626Ronin14.JPG

There a lot of bugs to fix before new demo. I'll do my possible to fix most of them, and add some thing to the engine, before I get up a new demo. By the way, I have no longer 5.4, now with 5.9, so I'll be able to work better, I think...

I can only see the menu one

@Sett try a differant image host, your's doesn't appear to be that reliable at the moment (I tried to open the other screenshots yesterday to put into my post @ CGtalk, but they didn't work either)

My favourite image host is http://photobucket.com Try there

DUDE edit your post, you're not allowed to post you're age on here lol if you are under 18, I never cared about my age when signing up on the net, log onto MSN, send them to me through that, and I'll set up a Ronin specific image host which I will share the user name and password with you and Oolite. So you are not breaking any age laws

[edit]
From the terms and services of photobucket

Quote: " 3.

Age Requirements and Limitations on Use of Services.

Users of the Services must be at least 13 years of age."

But I will still set up the account

[edit2]
@ Sett I sent you an email containing the username and password of the account, I will start put my images on there, incase you need to use them in posts or anything

Update: I've started on the characters, here is Akai, the texture is crude, but I will fix that as soon as I can after Eedam has animated it

@Sett I sent to the unanimated version, so you can use it instead of the guy in the suit (And to know the scalings)

Oolite is doing the animations, I can animate, its the skills in rigging which I lack

These are only test and quickly made scenes, anything that looks peculiar obviously is not final.

@Oolite, I see, I'll send it to you on MSN next time I catch you. Quite a rare event catching you on here

thanks
[edit] you shouldn't have virus in the Zip, prolly some code that look like a virus, I mean I changed the name of the ZIP when I added it to the attachment, and just changed it in the attachement, prolly something happened there.
