2 questions:

what size image is best to use for sprites in 2d games?

is there a source of free images to download for use in games? I have 0 artistic talent and i can probably only draw stick figures.

thanks

Digi tronic,

Fullscreen sprite sizes are not the most wise to use. I usually use sprites for menu buttons, characters, but not backgrounds. For example, if I have a menu, I paste the background image once, and use sprites for the menu's buttons.

About free images, use Google to find images, or simply do a thorough search of the web, using specific key words. Or, make stick figures.

32x32 or any square number above that is advisable.

For guidlines, use RAM speeds 32,64,128 etc

TomBosely,

Are you sure of using the word "speeds"? I am assured you should say "RAM bit depth, or page widths". Sorry to correct you, if so-be I am correct myself. Ram speed differs from the amount of bits a page of ram can hold. Just want to make sure that you are taken correctly.
