I want to make new guns, What programs should I use? Also do i just save it as a .x file and switch the guns original file with mine so my gun appears?

I use 3dsmax to make the model and Panda Exporter to export it as .x file. Didn't make new weapons yet, but I managed to import static objects.
As on how to do things once you have the model, it's all explained step by step in the manual, page 78 (11.5).
