Ok, terragen is as realistic as it gets to making terrains. It is better than almost any other terrain maker and most of all it is free!!!

I am not sure how to get it inot fpsc, but I have tried. I think you export it as a .3ds and then convert it to a .x. Then Put it into fpsc.

Good Luck

I posted some info and a video some time back showing Terrain capability in FPSC - which you can all look forward too introducing to your levels when and if you get in V1.

Once you have made your terrain and skinned it with an appropriate texture - using a Terrain in FPSC is as easy as introducing any other enity that you make yourself. You need the Terrain entity .x file and any other associated script and media files in the correct locations.

In Editor you choose your Terrain entity from the library by clicking the icon you will have created and placing the terrain in your level. Basically thats it - easy.

Heres the web address to the video again for anyone that needs it :

http://www.umedia.co.uk/Homo2/FPSC Terrain_Test1.wmv

Its around 6mb so is not a big download - you can stream it if you want

lol, I had been clicking the wrong link, Instead of clicking the download link, I clicke the "Here" link, and that one is the update.

Does anyone have a good free/cheap model converter? I was useing Deep Exploration, but the 30 days have elapsed, and it costs a large $149 or something like that. All I need is something that converts lots of different formats to .X

Thats what i did...i downloaded it and i installed it--> it's the full version.
I can't see a "update" on this site.

Here the quote from the Terragen site:
Quote: "Install Terragen v0.9.41 (1.6 Mb)
Full installer for Terragen v0.9.41.
We recommend that you uninstall previous versions of Terragen before running this installer.
Terragen can be uninstalled with "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows' Control Panel."

If it would be only a update why should i uninstall "previos versions" ?

Edit: Oh, you have been faster. Ignore my posting.

I'd like to know how you export a terrain in .3DS format...
I don't find a button with "export" or something like that!

thx

EDIT: I found the export button (yay!), but can't do it in .3DS format!!
Is there a plugin required? If so, where can I find it?

Thx thx

I really dont know much about the exporting, I use it for animations, take a tutorial or something.

@Cheezersoft-Look, you better be thankful for me showing this program to u. Ur puiny little ads are going to get u nowhere in game making. Second of all, it is not "my terrain maker." You got a problem with it, then go talk to the developer you noob.

ok guys this "terrain" Thingy doesnt work ive even used different programs that exports terrains in .x format. heres the program i use (Advanced Landscape Editor). but guess what ive tried using it in FPS no luck yet. i dont think im going to buy this FPS until i see more info on how to do add ur own models, importing & character creation & importing, seems to me theres alot of information being left out. how are u supposed to create the games u want if there isnt enough info on how to do certain thing's. they should automatically give this info to there customers theres alot of game engines out there that give u the info on whats the correct way of using there program and what programs u need . like think for a second what program did they use for there models that u get with Fps i would like to know. and when naming bones whats the correct format when making ur animations ? ok im done for now im frustrated lol
