A couple of quick questions...

in the command "SET BLEND MAPPING ON", what blending values are legal and what does each do?

Is there a way og adding enviroment mapping to an object (the famous chrome effect)?

Well there's "set cube mapping" or "sphere mapping", just use a convincing texture for the reflection effect. I'm going to use it death in my first game, cos everything in it is metallic and glass.

Jasonio, don't use sphere or cube mapping to much, it is really intensive for the graphics card. Or maybe you like to abuse your computer =)

I didn't steal it!

Well, I know about the sphere and cube mapping, but, as WarWolf stated, they're quite taxing on your 3d card (especially cube mapping, plus it was only first supported on the original Geforce). I'm looking for the effect that half-life used on it's weapons, the metal parts of them that is, to make them all shiny. I'm fairly certain it wasn't sphere mapping, but then again, I could be totally wrong

But, what about the blend modes? Anybody got some info on that topic?

No, sorry - The only thing that I can say is that Blend Mode 4 seems to work best for me.

You want labour intensive for your graphics card? Try shadow shading. I tried it in the asteroid example, it goes slower than The Matrix in bullet-time!

DarkBASIC Professional is the best programming utility.

Jep...without shadow mapping ~450 fps
with shadow mapping ~15 fps (GeForce4Ti 4400).
