This sounds like such a cool idea!

If you're too lazy to click the link, here's the gist of the game. At the start of the game, on a set date, you will receive a manila envelope consisting of the following:

- a picture of your target
- where your target works and lives
- the name of your target

Your objective is to assasinate (via water gun, water balloon or super soaker) your opponent, then take their target as your next target. The game ends when there's one player left.

You can almost do anything to get in contact with your target. You can pretend to be the fedex man on a delivery, or just a random person walking down the street-- then surprise and draw your guns to fire

The scary part is someone is also stalking you at the same time.

There are a few safe zones, but 99% of the locations are up for grabs.

Sounds fun, eh? They're doing this in NYC now, too.

It's so beautiful it makes me cry.

On a more serious note, I just hope some sick people don't abuse the ability to obtain people's home and work addresses.

more to the point, I hope they are not so removed from reality as to take part carrying a real weapon, while the idea is fun there are some seriously disturbed people out there, and is it sensible to have all these people going about like James Bond when the authoritys are trying to prevent terrorism?, we realy dont need hundreds of people going around behaving supiciously and impersonating delivery people etc, they are liable to get blown away by the local SWAT team or something.

Hmmm, I think it'll work for you Canadians seeing as you're a bit more laid back. Might work in the UK, although I hope it doesn't! I think it'd be a bad move in the US.

sounds exactly like a thing they do at the college here...called "gotcha" week...except we do it with nerf guns...and we've been doing it for years

and of course since it's at college the rules are different
-they scramble the student directory just for this one week so you can't look up your target online...
-you can't attack them in class or in the halls (but you can follow them out of the building)
-ummm..that's just about all the rules lol

Well they've been doing this for a few years now, and as far as I know nobody has gotten hurt.

I don't understand the problem with dozens of people impersonating other people. In a city of a few million, the odds are that nobody who is not playing the game will notice. However, if a guy pulls out a few squirt guns in a crowded place and starts shooting, there's bound to be many running for the hills

But since it's the closest most of us will ever get to being a spy or an assassin, the experience would surely be unique!

Great. I'm gonna move to wherever they are doing it, then shoot someone with an ak47. When I get arrested, I'll tell them I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to use a real gun, because due to my bad eyesight I didn't see anything about only using a watergun... ......

What is preventing you to simply enter the contest, "being given" their home address, robbing the hell out of them, then using this whole contest thing as an excuse? I don't see them stating anything about that in the rules...

Well, you could do that with any random person now couldn't you? You guys act like murderers and robbers have no other means of getting someone's personal information than through this game.

Obviously. But robbers have no excuse other then "Yeh. I robbed em".

If you TRY to rob the guy here but get caught before you do, you simply say "But I was waiting with my water gun for him to come home so I could do my kill!". No harm done there.

the seniors at my highschool would play this game at the end of every year, it was a $1 entry fee, and the person who wins gets like 75% of the pot and 2nd place gets the %20 and 3rd gets %5, or something like that.
It was finally my turn to play last year, and i got lazy and didnt do it...but it was amaizing how intense people get

But that would be awesome playing a game liek this with THAT many people! woooh boy, paranoia city!

It also ignores the fact that cheating is piss easy. Your word against the other persons word. It's like paintballing, where people just wipe off the paint, except in this there are no martials at all to catch you out.

Not really, you have the details on your next victim as proof. Now if the guy doesn't want to give it when he gets shot then things can get a bit complicated.

Again, I haven't heard of any poor sports. These are all adults playing the game.

And you're NOT allowed to just walk into the person's home, so no you can't use it as an excuse to rob someone. Geez.

You have to understand, Jeku, that a lot of the people on this board are already afraid of the outside world, so an idea like this just enhances their fears.

@Jimmy - agreed.

Quote: "You'll be surprised at the type of people walking this earth..."

This has been going on for a while, and so far nothing like that has happened. Do you walk around in a bullet-proof vest in fear of being randomly shot at? There is an alarming raise in violence--- Toronto is worse than Vancouver. But the problem with you critics is that you don't understand that everything you do in life comes with a risk. There is a risk of someone from these forums with half-decent internet search skills to get your home address to knife you in your sleep, too, but you keep coming back here

My brother does... but then again he's a policeman.

Honestly, you can razz it all you want to guys, but I personaly think it'd be great fun I just have this mental image of a neo-esque character doing a flip and drawing two water pistols and squirting away

Yeah, that's what I was implying.

hehe. Well, while I totally admit to kidding around myself (and am all for it) you can't say a guy with a water pistol going around attempting to fake a hitman moment is undoubtedly mature enough to take his death like a man, and sit out of the whole game, forgoing his exciting challenge of hunting down someone else.

Nah, I expect cheating across the board!

I can see me getting hit now.
Hitman:"Are you Mr. (looks at clipboard), John Doe?"
Me:"Uhh, yeah."
(hitman whips out monster super-soaker and fires)
Hitman: "Gotcha!!!"
Me(now soaking wet): "Son of a @#$%*!"

we used to play a game similar in the eighties called killer

one dark night
one big park
10 - 20 players
deck of cards and one joker card
rolled up newspapers or water pistols

everyone gets a card one is the joker
the joker is the killer

everyone disperses until a whistle is blown at the 5 minute mark

if the killer is seen killing someone and doesnt kill the witness its bad for the killer
as he can spread the word, however if a killer attempts to trick everyone of that rouse and gets away with it he could wipe out a whole group of people quickly.

if the killer kills someone alone and no one sees it they become a killer a well

if a player sees a killer kill someone he may attempt to kill the killer
if that killer was not the original killer you unbind the killer in that person

if a player kills another player then the killing player must stand still for the games duration until the killer makes him a killer

this new concept takes something similar to a new level playing field with the internet.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

Those stories sure make it sound like a blast. I'd do when it when I was older. Heh heh, those two guys with the conflicting stories are hilarious, paying 20 bucks to let you squirt someone, that's pretty funny.

No...they weren't sharpened. Just flat discs. The difference between that and this city-hitman game is that there wasn't really any rules or specific time you could play. There's been cases [involving people I don't know] who would walk into their bunkhouse late at night to be tapped on the head by a guy with a wooden sword, perched above the door.

The whole point of the game is to sharpen awarness and an open mind.

What's that, a prayer? Is Jesus reading the thread?

You could have just as easily said, "Those people playing are so immature!" and avoided my stinky wrath. But NO, here it is!

I've had it with people using 'Jesus' or 'God' as means of expressing emotional negativity.

You don't see people saying, "Allah, those people playing are so immature!" or "Buddha, those people playing are so immature!" or using the names of any other prominent religious figure in this manner, because that's insensitive and offensive.

So, in protest, I will, from now on, be using 'Allah McBuddha' as an emotional outburst. For, Allah McBuddha help me, I will start busting caps in your Allah Mcbuddha-danged rumps.

The problem with setting this up with a bunch of friends is the fact that you know what they look like. You're going to be alarmed when you see a member that you know is in the game come near you.

With the way the game is setup now, you don't have any idea who is in the game, and who is after you. It will 99.999% be a complete stranger

Hrmm true... I'd be scared playing it in the under 19s game though, they may not be as mature as the people playing in the games currently on-going over 19 ones...
