Would Dark Basic have a problem if a properly formed DirectX program was running during a program execution (especially with the message pump) ?

No. I have 3d-canvas running (or ulead cool 3d) both using DirectX runtime libraries at the same time. DB engine works well, so does DBP, but 3dC or ulead crashes..

The evil plan is now even closer!

Interesting. I might have to experiment with my DX8 module to see what happens - It would be annoying if it can't be done (as I want to use my own sprite library, mainly because the SELECT/CASE statement doesn't work properly).

What I would like (at some future point) is to be able to get handles for sprites and images (for passing to DLL's). Getting a pointer to the DX8 surface would be nice too..
