Hmmm... I could swear that I asked for more a more detailed tutorial on MilkShape... Where did that thread go????????

It'd be nice if I (we) can have 1!

If you want a tutorial for a specific software (in this case Milkshape) you should probably check with them and on their forums.
You would probably have a better chance of finding the information you need there than you would on the FPSC forums.

Well, if you think about it, there are some people here who use MilkShape to create entities / characters for FPSC (did you know that this is an FPSC forum and this is the FPSC Media / Model section? ). Perhaps someone who uses MilkShape for the purpose of creating entities / characters may want to share their knowledge. This would be the place to request it, right?

You can request it and someone might make a tutorial on how to animate a character with Milkshape.
Or you could probably google it or search the Milkshape forums and find a tutorial on how to animate characters.
And I had to read a bunch of tutorials on how to animate using Milkshape before I could animate anything.
I was just pointing out that those places would be good places to find the information you are looking for.
I might also point out that animating a character is a bit more difficult than animating other kinds of models.

Hey, no worries... I guess I get confused as to what I am supposed to be doing, y'know? I mean I have understood that I can use the skeleton designed for MilkShape for FPSC. I also think that, from what I've gathered, I can create other animations and must know how to script them in FPSC (???).

I guess I must first learn how to make a humanoid figure (so, yeah, I must go to a MilkShape resourse for that), give it a texture (that's what I find hard to figure out) and rig the skeleton.

Going back to texturing, I was thinking that maybe just changing the texture will be a good start. I could just give the characters my very own textures and that in itself would serve as a short-term solution until I learn how to model. But I must say that I haven't been able to learn how to create an alternative texture. I don't suppose you or anyone else can provide a link to a tutorial? I'm looking in the manual and I can't find the information on how to do it. I have PhotoShop and I have the DDS plug-in. I'd like to know to do a new skin / texture for the characters.

Thanks for putting up with me! I'll get there in the end!!!

hey,

great skeleton and nice animations.

But I have a question here. I already am working on a human figure in milkshape. Now how do I open both file (my human model AND the skeleton) together so I can attach the joints to the vertices?

Sorry if this seems too stupid a question, but I didnt find a .ms3d import option

thank you for your help!

You need to load the skeleton into milkshape, then go to the file menu and click merge and choose your figure. You may need to highlight your model and click on scale and change the numbers in the x y z boxes to resize your model.

Could you inform us on the correct way to export this from MilkShape after the mesh is applied?

Thanks
