kewl, sweet work, I think if you 'baked' the object it would give a sweet effect with the jet boosters etc. you can easily bake an object in Cinema 4D 7 and above or Blender.

The Cage Complex, can you help me out and post the code you use for blur please?

Do you use "Get image x,y,x2,y2" and then texture object? Isn't this very, very slow?

Katie Holmes wasted all my bandwidth.

Drew > I can't post the code due to the way it was done. So, well... I'll post very soon a code sample with this effect. I didn't use "get image" but "set camera to image" which was much more faster than I expected!! And I must precise I'm working on a 3 years old gfx card to be sure my work'll run on small configs. So it's greatly usable!

That shadow is really cool, i like how in that pic on the far right of those three you posted it's distorted...is that supposed to be from heat distortion? or just some varied ground...

also those trees are beautiful.

Again and again... thank's x100 to everyone!

No screen today. I'm working on controls, inertia, fire gun, ... nothing really viewable. But now I hope soon to release a small teaser...

Xenocyte, DBMad > I don't use MSN. I try to stay as invisible as possible on the net to keep full mind on my work! I stay ~12 hours a day behind my screen so keeping my attention is a very difficult aspect of my life

Anyway DBMad, if you need to know some stuffs, just put a post here, I'll try to help you as much as I can!

Peter > my shadow is not as complex as you figured just a design-purpose distortion cause I don't like sharped rendered shadow!

Andrew > Lot of similarity I must confess, but that's mainly because I (try to) put a screen each time I work on this project.

hehe, but all that matters is the end result... so if it looks complex to the user, when it is really simple, then you've done a good job

Lot of work (including controls, fire gun, math functions, and lot of boring but usefull things...) have been done today! Real ingame work is about to start! Here is the very first blast...

Andrew > that's me who is saying it's a bad thing... If I was a reader of this thread I suppose I'd find this boring. But I do that because it help me working faster!

Peter & Suppuku > psssit! for my part I'm agree with Uncle Sam's rating of 10000000000000000000000000000000000/10. I do not see any mistake

Wow. That's nothing less than incredible. This is definitely the most professional looking game I've seen in DB. I have no doubt that this will play as well if not better than it looks, though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this a Star Fox like game?

I however do disagree with it... i think it should be "+infinity/10" which (as we all know) is the same as +infinity

Is it me or does everyone get seppuku wrong......

Anyway? Are you crazy? Agreeing with Uncle Sam is a very very dangerous thing. Tis good, but I would never go nuts with rating, but peter is most likely right, Uncle sam, late nights at the PC are helped with a cup of coffee, vodka puts you to sleep.

Besides my old maths teacher will kill me for agreeing with him due to the inaccuracy, I would be scared, Imagine Jabba the Hut as a female chavs, and you got her.

Nice new particle effect.

It looks awesome man, very well done, and I'll be sure to get it when I get my own computer that can actually handle games that are more complex than Scorched Earth.

Oh yeah, and sorry about the name similarity, it actually happened by accident as I wasn't aware that there was someone with your name here. If you'd like I could change it...

You both have very similar names, and 'Insanity complex' joined exactly 1 month and 10 days after 'The Cage complex'.

What a strange idea! I'm not gonna ask you to change your handle! Anyway it sounds better than "DBPro Newbie", I enjoy your concept

And in fact "The Cage Complex" is the name of my company, not my handle which is "Mainspawn"...

I see, well then, I am to keep my name. I agree that it is better then DBPro Newbie as that insinuates that I am new, and at this point, I'm still new, but how can I move on if I've branded myself a newbie? Hmm

[edit]
And my usual handle for most places is 'Juggalo_5' for games and message boards, insaneclown_juggalo[numbers] for email...I just wanted to get creative here

the terrain - is it one large model on which the camera moves, or is it a "scrolling" mesh, where the camera stays still and the mesh distorts to give the illusion of movement?

Oh yeah, almost forgot - looks sweeet!

I started with 3D models, but as game use unidirectional scroll, I decided to switch back to 2D plains palms in order to have the best design as possible.

Peter_ > only player going through an explosion. But I'm now very close to release a teaser to show all these things working...

This does look fantastic.

However, it may just be me or does the shadow in the second screen look far too big. Looks like the lightsource is sitting just on top of the ship on it, but that wouldn't fit with the other shadows.
