With this code I get fps 48 in DBV1 and only fps 3 in DBPro.

autocam off
sync on
sync rate 0
for i=1 to 1000
make object box i,rnd(25),rnd(25),rnd(25)
position object i,rnd(100)-20,rnd(100)-20,rnd(100)-50
next i
position camera 30,30,-150
do
set cursor 1,1
print screen fps()
sync
loop

Patch 4beta3 gives me a solid 70 fps in full-screen exclusive mode with the code above. And my graphics card is locked at this rate so I don't expect it to go higher. Not too bad for 1000 objects on-screen at once.

Cheers,

Rich

This is a well known problem in DBPro Retail to Patch 3.1 Juso. Patch 4 however has a redone 3D pipeline which can cope much better with large numbers of objects and on your system I would expect 30-40FPS under P4 at least, probably more.

Patch 4 hasn't been released yet, it is a mythological beast which with a little luck will materialise sometime this year.

Seriously though, a last week Feburary or Early March release looks likely.

Hi sorry to ask this here but will patch 4 sort out the "add-media" problem I'm having in the project manager, when I press "add" it takes forever for the dialogue box to come up (2mins sometimes!) I have an XP2000 with 512mB of RAM using NTFS on XP, any ideas?

I doubt it. As everyone has said before, its just a 3D engine upgrade.

SpineTrader: You're using the old version of the editor. Just pop over to the RGT web site where Guy (the Editor creator) has provided links to the latest editor.

Cheers IanM for the information about the editor, I've just downloaded the patches and will give them a whirl. Juso I assume IDE means "something...something...Editor" so download the IDE patches with those names.
(I suppose in Finnish... "Editor" begins with a "Z" or something?)

Just tried the IDE patches, work brilliantly, it would be nice if you could drag and drop the filenames into the code directly or from the desktop into the project manager... eventually maybe?

I found them finally. Unfortunatelly still if I go to VariableWatcher, DBpro crashes immediatelly.

Thanks for what IDE stands for (I'm not so smug now eh?)

Cheers!
