I know I'm going to get in trouble for asking this, but is patch 4 coming out any time soon? Has there been a death in the family or something? I remember a time in november you guys said it was going to come out and people were getting anxious even before then so I was just curious to know if it is a myth or just going to take a REALLY long time.

ARRRRGH! Another Patch 4 question! (strangles monitor)

You may have heard at one point that patch 4 was comming out at the end of January, so did I, but it turns out that was for beta testing on the DBDN users. I think they have gone through 3 revisions of it now squashing any bugs as they go. After the fourth revision, we mere mortals might get it next, say about first week of March.

But as they say: "Don't hold your breath", as this is an important patch which will effectivley replace most of the 3D core of DBPro, it looks like Lee and Co. are being very careful at making sure that patch 4 works well before they release it.

LOL @ Raven (sorry, that Game comment tickled me).

Wendigo - We're in beta3 at the moment, there will be a beta4 before the patch goes public but there is no reason to suspect we will miss the Q1 deadline.

Cheers,

Rich

Oh and if anyone follows this post with any "contradictory" comments - ignore them, they're unsubstantiated, unfactual and incorrect. They don't have the betas and latest test code from Lee, I do. Nuff said.

Cheers,

Rich

Well..... I have the beta and all.... but unfortunately there is no way I can use it. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I hate being stuck out in the middle of nowhere away from my computer system. This sucks. Oh well, you should all be thankful to me..... Yeah..... Umm... not really, but oh well. Have fun all and enjoy, and remember, being deployed in Kuwait is not fun, I don't recommend it to the kiddies one bit.

Darn me and my quick to speak self. I meant I would have it and all. I'm on a laptop with 2mb shared video memory, like I even really have a chance at running anything made with DB right now, and then the fact that I left my copy of DB and whatnot back in the states doesn't help me. WAAAAA SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!! Okay, sorry about the caps there, I got a little carried away, but this place is deadly boring so I can't really help myself. I just want to go tragically insane...... What was the topic on? Oh yeah, patch 4.......

I just say go with the 3D Realms answer to everything and the Valve answer as well. It'll be done when it is done. 'Nuff said.

Will it come out in time for us to complete our competition entries, or will it come out on April 5th?

Thanks for all the answers. I know it is a pestering question and I feel bad for bringing it up again, but I keep losing my 3.0 patch and I'm sick of re-dowloading it (on a dialup) so I figure if 4 comes out soon, I'll probably store it in a really good place.

First patch 3: got formatted
Second patch 3: also got formatted
3rd patch 3: was saved on ZIP disk.... lost ZIP disk.

Just had a thought, will the sprite system in DBPro be affected in any way by the changes in patch 4? I ask because DBPro's sprites are, more or less, a manipulation of 3D plains.
