does anybody happen to know how many frames the door models have to be used with any of the door fpi files? I've done a search and found nothing.

That's a good question, to which unfortunatelly I have no answer, but if you use the Segment Editor and look at the tutorial videos, you'll see it's somewhat automated so, I assume it's hardcoded.
