Check to see that DirectX has installed properly. Click on start -> run and type in "dxdiag" to run the diagnostics check. Make sure you run everything and see if you get any errors anywhere.

DXdiag seems to do fine.

I choosed another screen resolution 640 480 16 and then it worked, but everything is moving veeery slow. I also tried 1280 1024 16 and that also worked. It was the 3dvideo project i tested.

The T21 is a 800 Mhz Pentium, and i have tried some older dbv1 progs and they run smooth, is there some magic adjustment to do here ?

Do you have a 32 bit mode ? If so, try that.

Yes, I really am THAT good...

Need a bit more info - are you running in full-screen exclusive mode or in a window? What actually caused the DX error this thread was originally about if the other resolutions work? (i.e. which one doesn't).

Cheers,

Rich

I did some research and also installed the latest S3 savage driver which can be found at : ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/mobiles/vftpiy2k.exe

With this newer driver the 3dvideo example works in 1024x768 and at a resonable speed.

I also tried the facedemo, but that still is very slow.

Tried to run the L-type demo and got a runtime error 1003when the bitmap backdrop should be loaded, dont know why really?

The IBM T21 only have an 8 Meg graphic card so i guess this is the reason that things is a bit sluggish.

Tested some other demos for example the plasma demo.
First i got runtime error 1003 could not load bitmap backdrop.jpg
I changed the resolution to 640x480x16 and now the bitmap loaded fine, next error : runtime error 1708 could not load 3d object at line 21...

Is there a complete list of all the runtime errors that can occur, it would be much more easy to try to understand whats going on here ?
