Here's just a screen of some progress. The stairs need a different texture though, yuck.

Actually I thought the stair texture looked OK in the screenie, but things sometimes look somewhat different in level - I see what you might be referring too.

Nice to see you progressing here.

the stairs use the top 8th of a wall texture. I need to make a proper one. I just needed to use something to build the level.

edit: On another note, I'm now realizing that I'm going to have to use something different than animated decals for certain game events. Not being able to control the number of frames, speed or associating frame numbers with scripts (as far as I know) makes them useless to me except for explosions and the like. I think I have a pretty good idea for simulating animated decals using flat models though. I have to experiment a bit. The reason I have such a hard-on for the animated decals is that they simulate flat hand drawn artwork so well and fit in with my genre. Oh well.

just curious, is it possible to increase frames(at the suffing of art quality)? In game core, the decalspec reads-
;decal spec

;DECAL
across = 4
down = 4
offsety = 0

giveing you 16 frames (4x4)
perhaps increaseing it(but as i said, at the suffering ofquality) to this-

;decal spec

;DECAL
across = 8
down = 8
offsety = 0

giveing you 64 frames to work with.
just a thought.
It may slow things down a bit, or move 64 frames at an unusually high rate.

@ Disturbing 13

Yeah, I originally thought I could create any size panel I wanted using the text file as you mentioned, but it appears that no matter what you put in for accross and down, it's still locked in at 16 frames and you get some weird split texture thing. Uman and I have been fighting with animated decals for some time and we both have lost.

Today was a very good day for the FPSC community. Another good work here, and it looks a load of fun also.

Keep it up!

I'm pretty sure I know everything. Doubts are something rare in me and I am never wrong, as this signature can prove.

Lon,

I am not sure exactly what you want to do with animated decals, but if its for your characters would not animated entities work for you?

They could still be flat and should be easily animated in a model editor via frame based animation. They should animate fine in FPSC but not sure how you would fair if you wanted them to use a weapon.

Just thinking out loud
