Most of it is bump mapping.

And Wheel Gator has started on the robot. The only problem is floating and mmoving.

hmmm..... well, i can just script it to follow waypoints, so the only thing to really worry about is habing it at about the player's eye level.

For those of you who are wondering what we're talking about, wheel gator's working on a floating sentry enemy for me. Ill attach my own sketch of it.

Evil Stick, can we have it so the robot shoots? Just like a character.

Sorry this is what you were saying about before you wanted good screen cap software ide recomend somthing called camtasia. Its quick capture and the frame rate is faster than fraps. Hope that helps

hey core, i downloaded the camtasia demo but when i try to record in fpsc (both testgame and with an exe) it wont work. the screen goes black and says the hardware is not supported. have you ever used this to record with fpsc, cause i cant get it to work.

Okay- It's going great, but just to let you know it wont come out any time soon. A demo maybe, but as we all know, 'it's beginning to feel a lot like christmas.' as a result, you wont be hearing from me from this friday until the day after christmas- as the admins say, ill be on holiday. im shooting for maybe an early february release for the game. maybe if it goes well, and riker9 ever gets done, ill sell the sequel.

well, work's moving along on nihgtfall, but the v1 bugs are slowing me down. sigh... sometimes you just really miss a good ol' ladder. o well. im trying to get a beta or demo ready, but i feel weighed down by all the bugs and crap.

EDIT: Sacre bleu! My lord, framerates in fpsc can get low. i have some really well designed levels ready, but all are just too slow in the fps department!!! I dont know what to do... Nightfall's future is looking grim. Unless I can figure out a way to raise the framerate, i may have to start over on much of the game.

SarusX,

I feel your pain.

You are not alone - far from it for everyone will meet with the same fate sooner or later if trying to make a serious game with FPSC and will be left with serious choices to make. Its unavoidable until and if improvements to the product are made.

I presume you are doing what you can to improve frame rates but its unlikely to be enough - you are unlikely to be able to overcome some of the fps issues in complex levels if you have them.

If you have done a great deal of work - I would keep backup copies separately to any you decide to drastically change in an attempt to improve fps and then perhaps at some future date if FPSC by some miracle should get a speed boost then you can bring the original level designs out of the cupboard so to speak and perhaps complete them.

I know what you suffer from - In my first game level alone I have around 30 fps constant except in a couple of serious lag spots at two lifts which for some reason kill the fps when I step into them and one spot where just one single active enemy knocks the fps badly.

Very frustrating for you I know.

SarusX, can you upload the universe.dbo's?

FPS can be fixed with level redesign, And I am beginning to get the hang of moving maps around to do so. The Universe.dbo's will display the basic map, and are easier to upload then the entire game (and easier to download and run).

One thing i noticed is that you can often fit a double staircase to break off strait hallways. Another is that if the roof is hig h enough, you can place windows with no FPS Loss, or you can have them point directly at nothing.

If you want to record a cut-scene, a good way to do this would be to make a arena and invite some people to act out. This is how I WOULD do mine if my FPSC wasnt bugged. Dosnt let me export arenas.

I would be happy to help you out if you use my idea.
