Is this legal?

It's good and all, but I'm doubting that Valve will be ecstatic that people are using theirt models.

It's legal to use it in non-commercial but you need to give the credits to Valve.

Cool, but after importing him into 3ds max I see he isn't rigged for animation, so for now he's just a static entity.

I'll rig him, its a great looking professional model, but a bit heavy on the polys at least for FPSC, he has about 3300 polys.

I tried to decompile the Half Life 2 models to use and modify in my own (non-commercial) game. But I couldn't get the decompiler to work. How did you do it?

Yes I have the biped file, and have used it to rig and animate my own characters. I was just pointing out that this model is not animated nor rigged yet.

Skalex, how do you know that Valve really don't mind people using it, even for non-commercialism? I know a bunch of games that don't, but I suppose I'm not sure about HL2, just a guess.

I would guess that if you own the game, and want to use the model for your own, non-commercial use, then that would fall under the fair-use doctrine.

I could be wrong, but it any case, I'm gonna animate this bitch with the TGC biped but change the standard walking animation to a limping one.

I've animated this model so he can now be used like any other character but with some custom animations. I'll post it tonight.
