Hi there, to test out and iron bugs out of my level editor I've started to remake this Quake 3 Level. I've just inlcuded a huge SkySphere, and it looks great on my pc. I was wondering tho if the long draw distance required for it will kill lower spec video cards?

I've included a choice of screen resolutions in the demo, so if as many ppl as possible could download, test and report back the fps in different screen res' along with their pc spec I'd be exceedingly grateful

Screenshot:

Demo: (1.34Mb)
http://www.mywestsomerset.com/quake3.zip

Notes on the demo:
1: The level is actually fully textured and lightmapped, but only with a gray image to save time temporarily. Presumably having a plain colour texture uses the same memory as a detailed one the same size/depth?
2: Note that this is not a BSP or anything, DarkBasicPro is making the level from mathematically plotted points, on the fly Impressive, but I wonder if its slow?
3: No collision detection implemented in the demo but as yoiu can see it plot where you are in a x/y tiles set so thats easy and hopefully non-memory intensive to add l8r.
4: You may start off looking at the floor, move the mouse about to look around, and arrows to move

Comments on the sky are also appreciated, I'm pretty happy with it, especially the 'random' smoky, cloudy effect

Anyway, Specs, resolutions and FPS rates please,

Many Thanks, Sam / Kangaroo2

Grr ok I know why, my FTP wouldn't upload over the old version. I have now deleted and uploaded it - I see no reason why it shouldn't work, all media is included now and it runs off my hdd even if I delete all media

*crys and beats head against desk* "Why! Why! WHY won't DBPro include my media files in an exe?"

I've got little or no idea why it doesn't work unless its a bug, I have included EVERY media file in the exe and chosen the right exe save option in the projects manager - any1 any suggestions? I'm reluctant to let it out with media separate just yet, altho I prolly will eventually if I can't get it to work

Thank you by the way, it does look nice running, especially in hi res if your spec can handle it

1024*768 is the max my monitor can handle (It’s my brothers old A1200 screen) but I’m sure it will look cool at other settings

I'm sorry, I'll upload a demo later with media included if I cant fix it, and post it under a new topic, I guess most will be ignoring this one now due to my/dbp's (not sure) stupid error
