I'm new to Dark Basic, and I'm working with the Pro demo. I'd like to make a scene with some transparent water. I initially thought to create two matrices - one for the land, and another for the water...using the GHOST MATRIX command to make the water see-through. However, this doesn't really give the effect I'm looking for. The water is transparent, but when you view the land through the water, you can't see the water!. It's like the land is being drawn over the water no matter how you position the two matrices.

I'm sure there's a better way to do this. Any suggestions? How about some source code or a demo w/source? I noticed that there is apparently a "Matrix Water" demo available with the full version of the software, but I'm not yet ready to plunk down the cash.

Thanks!

Using the SET MATRIX command switch "culling" off. This will then draw the bottom matrix faces aswell.

Possibly, but there is a problem with ghosting in Patch 3.1 and below where ghosted objects are always drawn last. This is definately fixed in Patch 4.

YES! Thanks Rob, that sounds exactly like what the problem is. Overlaying a ghosted object over a non-ghosted one causes the ghosted image to be overwritten.

I'm glad it's not just me!

I had problems with explosions in my game because they were drawn underneath the level which made them look terrible - P4 did fix this so hopefully it will work for everyone else too. P4 is still in testing for good reasons - ATM it has 3D card and model issues.

Sorry but Patch 4.3 doesn't fix ghost objects acting weird - but thats the BETA maybe the release version will - either that or roll on patch 5 I miss my see through water. For a good example of the problem, if any1 remembers my bounce demo, the fish swim ABOVE the water, even though they are placed under it, and show under in DBE
