I have finally mastered and appreciate fully what BSP wil do for me. However I have one question.

Will there be an ambient light command of sorts for BSP?

I have found that Q3 and RTCW BSP's are very dark. I dont think lighting positioning is the answer either since original game maps are very dark too.

There are currently quite a few issues with BSPs. Hopefully though, once the DBO format has been completed, Lee will move on to updating and improving the world commands (BSP / Terrain etc.)

Current Project: Retro Compo. Entry.

You need to insert light into your map when making it.

You can do ambient lights in BSP (I've only done this in Q3 Maps using quark). You've just got to set the properties in the maps worldspawn entity.

Click on the worldspawn entity and go to its properties. Then insert the command ambient if it isn't already there and enter an apropriate ambient value (25 works OK for me). Also you can set the color of the light with the _color command.

try adding a light command to the worldspawn and set the value to 40 or something, that might do it.

Sorry...I did not realise I had to Specify a colour for the ambient light. I thought white was the default. Brilliant!!!

It has worked a treat.
