What's the best way to create a spiral wipe, initially from the centre of the screen, to black out the entire screen?

The only problem is that the circle command's radius parameter does skip pixels unfortunately, so you shouldn't exclusively use a circle wipe.

You could always texture a plain with a spiral texture, then place it right in front of the camera and scale and rotate it accordingly. You would need a texture kind of like a comma, starting at a radius of about 1 and spiralling out through 360 degrees to a radius of 2 at the end. Here's an example of a texture:



but obviously yours would be filled in better and slightly off black with a black background. The hard part is getting it to scale properly when rotated.

Is this what you want? I thought it was kind of cool (and creepy). I used part of TheDarthster's code (hope you don't mind ). It can be changed to clear in only on pass.
