Has anyone had any luck creating something significant with DBPro? I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that DBPro has quite a few issues with bugs, commands not working, etc. It seems like everyone I talk to about the DBC vs. DBPro issue says something to the effect of "DBPro is buggy and I wouldn't use it to do anything significant. Stick with DBC if you want to do anything real". Is there a list of known issues with DBPro and projected fix dates or such out there somewhere? DBPro hasn't even arrived in the mail yet and I'm starting to thing I've made the wrong decision to go with it instead of DBC with the Enhancement Pack. I really wasn't counting on spending $100 to help debug some version of DB...

In a word there isn't a list of outstanding issues or projected fix dates.

Its not as buggy as it was when it came out (my thoughts about it are on the other site), so no, you haven't made the wrong choice.

It certainly needs Patch 4 though...

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

Patch 4 is on its way. We are in the final stages of putting the latest beta through its paces. For the sake of quality control, everyone on DBDN has to agree it is good enough for official release before we move on it. The general feeling is that we are 'almost' there. Just one or two bugs to verify as fixed and then you shall have it

There's no such thing as Bugs, they are just undocumented features.

Ah yes... the undocumented features!

Well, I'm glad to hear that I can start out with DBPro (if it ever arrives, still no email saying it was even shipped, just an email about it's been paid) and slap on patch 4 very soon.

Thanks,

Ed

He he, the undocumented features include some instruction sets that are able to freeze your computer or restart ? No, just joking. There are some small problems, but not anything that you can“t work a way around (Until you are using 3D features).

DBPro retail was beta-ware. After P4's release I think we will finally be able to call it retail-ware.

No, DBPro Retail was DB quality speed. Now we're finally got Pro quality speed (etc).

Cheers,

Rich

Depends on how many object you were using - DBP Retail was amazingly fast in some respects, and rediculously slow in others. However from what I've seen of Patch 4 its pretty darn good.

Personally I don't think DBP should have been released to retail in the state it originally was, (on the Net for early adopters YES in shops for newcomers NO) but all that is forgotten now due to Patches. I just feel sorry for people not online who buy DBP in Game or something on the high street, and don't realise all the patches that are available

Once all FastTrak's initial batch runs out, the new Patch 4 or even 5 version should be included on all CDs - that way eitehr DBS or FastTrak could feel a lot happier about putting some money and effeort behind really promoting it

Just my 2 cents

Coming Soon! Kangaroo2 Studio... wait and quiver with anticipation! lol
