Dimitri Martin did a thing about that on the Daily Show, and it's been talked about in the news recently, some study by such-n-such concluded this crap and that crap.

Except that Matt kid (his name is "you broke my myspace") whose on my friends list because I thought he was someone else and I'm too lazy to erase him. But yeah, he's the only person on the list that I don't actually know in real life, except Bono and Ben Folds of course
Most of my friends use it (many of whom I haven't added, also because I'm lazy). While it's handy for contacting my pals and stuff, I don't use it all that often. I'm sick of being spammed by people who want to be on my friends list... it gets annoying.
