In the latest issue of the newsletting it said that Synergy IDE had darkbasic and OmegaBasic support. But afterlooking on their website it also said DarkGameSDK at the compiler support. A free version should be available, so could this be the first free compiler with support?

No. It still requires the currently supported compilers to be installed (VC++6, VC++7 or VC++7.1)
