as I promised here is a few screenshots from the first floor of the level. I am going to build this game with stock media from FPSC and ModelPack 1. And once I figure some more things out I will add my own media ion later adventures. so here is a screen shot.

Thanks Davy B! Here is a screenie of a downed enemy! I have completed the first floor of level 1, and think it took me a shade under 25 hours (with naps here and there)I figure at this rate I might get this level done by the end of this week. I will let you know when it is done. If you haven't done so already head over to forums and grab the last demo I created. or if you do not want to go there here is a link Demo game

for some reason you can not click on the view button. so just download the photo and then delete it when you are done looking at it.

enjoy!

I thought I did know some one who could make web pages. But because he took to long to even show me some examples, I made my own, using microsoft office.

The view button does work.

Iam also glad your not making levels in 10 minutes and calling it a game. Its good to see some one take time on some thing.

I think someone can create a game with the supplied media if they take there time doing it. how did you do it using microsoft office?
email how you did it.

Thanks guys! Well I'm at the point where it takes about 10 minutes to load a test level. with that being said I will try to post more screen shots sometime tonight. also This may or may not be released as a demo level. I will have to see how it runs when it is done I don't want to release a laggy demo.

Ok I have had a few set backs so far. I like to refer to it as lack of sleep combined with a winzone that caused my game to crash to desktop. and the glave helped it crash as well. now I have to sort a door problem. I have a key and a remote out of sequence somewhere. and the yellow lights are being removed just to be replaced with white lighting. Also has anyone managed to create random enemy spawns? I read the tutorial but could not make sense of it. The whole spawn thing makes about as much sense to me as writing chinnese while speak russian at the same time. well back to the creation stage. peace out hommies!

Hi,

Just played your "TheStudy" demo. That's some nice work - liked the background sounds, really helped set the scene.

Cheers, OG.

Thanks man. You should see the stuff I am currently working on.

It takes me a while to create a level necause everything has to be as perfect as this engine allows it to be. I take my lighting and ambient sounds very seriously. If youc an submerge the player in to the environment through sound and lighting then you have the player hooked, allowing you to sacrifice some visual prowess for game stability and performance.

I'm currently working on two levels side by side beacuse they leach off of each other. I need to keep them as close to the same feel as possible. Don't worry you will not be playing a clone with a different level name. I should have some more screenshots up soon.

Anyone know of a good program that records the screen? preferably one that will not lag it out.

If you're looking for something that will take a series of screenshots whilst you're playing, in the past I've used:

HyperSnap-DX - http://www.hyperionics.com/downloads/HS6Setup.exe (direct download)
-or-
Paint Shop Pro - http://www.corel.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel3Uk/Trials/Login&pid=1047025446809&cid=1047025564039 (sign up required)

From what I remember PSP was better as the trial I used didn't have a watermark (like HS-DX) and you could set it up to take a shot every few seconds or by pressing a 'hotkey'.

Cheers, OG.

p.s. Immersion is the key to gameplay so you obviously know what you're doing...

thank you,

what program would you recomend? I want to put a video demo together. I suppose I can have it take a series of screenshots and then connect them together and add a little music and BAMB! demo done. <scratches head with evil grin>

For screenshots (and purely based on my experience) I used the PSP trial.

However... I've had a program called Fraps for a while (I've only ever used it for benchmarking) but now I find out it does that -and- take screenshots/record video.

Fraps Faq - http://www.fraps.com/faq.php
Fraps Direct Download http://www2.fraps.com/FRAPS272.EXE

I'll be giving it a go next week once I get properly stuck into FPSC, I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers, OG.

p.s. The registered version of Fraps is $37 if you want something cheaper you could try GameCam $25 or GameCam Lite $10 (http://www.planetgamecam.com). If I find anything that is fully functional and free I'll paste it here.

Thanks, Fraps is a sweet program. I purchased it. and I use vurtialDB to compress the files. Though I need another program to compress the files. and my FPS suffers a little when I use Fraps but on play back it's pretty sweet! I should be able to post a video demo soon. wOoT WoOt!

Ok guys, here is a video of one of the maps that I am creating for my game. I have decided to name my project "TheBroken" what's the video about you may ask yourself? Well here's the scoop.

There are no enemies in the level yet.
All of the doors are utilising the "usedoor.fpi".
No Health Packs, Ammo Cans, Keys have been added to this video.
Not all areas of the map are shown.

[/u]Wouldn't want to give the whole level away. Besides you get the point of workmanship from the video.[/u]

Here it is! TheBroken (right click and save target, it's jerky if you don't)

Give me feed back.

It's quite claustrophobic down there I'm guessing there won't be many enemies as there's quite a lot of jumping/ducking what with all the colateral damage (caused by the fighting above ground?). I look forward to seeing/playing it within its Game Context.

What tool did you end up using for the video capture?

Cheers, OG.
